“Routeburn Trail - Must Do List”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We didn't have the time, gear or logistics to do the entire Routeburn trail but what we did do was a day hike in and out at each end of the trail, which was perfect and highly recommend this at a minimum. Each hike does get the heart rate up but with the clean air to breath and beautiful scenery it needs to be a "Must Do" for you when on the south island of NZ.

“great trail”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

n New Zealand for 2 weeks on vacation with 3 other couples and only had time to do a couple of day trips. From the east did 4/5 miles to Routeburn falls hut and from the west did a small section on the way to Key summit. What I saw was great. Easy hiking surface with some outstansing views.Maybe someday,I'll get back to do entire trail in 3 days, Strongly recommend for day trips if you are in area.

The Key Summit is at 919 meters (3015Feet) You pass Nice double waterfalls. This walk begins at The Divide, about 85 km along the Milford Road from Te Anau. At the summit you will also find a pit toilet for those in need.

“Perfect great walk”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

We just completed this walk after the Milford. Had great weather and took our time over 3 nights, staying at Routeburn Falls, Lake Mackenzie and Howden Huts. As it was only 32 kms, we could have down it over 2 nights but enjoyed the walk all the same. The walk out of Howden to the Divide was only 1 hour. Ranger Phil at Howden Hut was just great. The talk was fantastic and I wish him all the best with his new career as a DOC ranger rather than a farmer. The short trip to Conical point is not to be missed but only on a clear day.

“Day Hike is worth it!”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

We did the 9km Day Hike with Ultimate Hikes and had Dean. It was awesome! The scenery was awesome and it was really worth the extra hike up to the Lodge!
