“One day tramp - up & down again”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Stunning scenery, from lowland to upland forest alongside jade streams & waterfalls, up into alpine rocks & snow. We were not guided, and met many "full-on" trampers, but our jackets & day-packs were fully adequate. Excellent brochure from DoC helped us tackle this moderately strenuous day expedition, up to Lake Harris saddle, & back down again. Walking time about 7 hours total (for 25kms up & down) Great huts can be booked if you want to do overnight stops Breathtakingly beautiful. Do it!.

“amazing views”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Went to Routeburn Track in December 2011 with my wife. Was first tracking experience for us, hence we were under-prepared. Did'nt take much food or sleeping bags. Fortunately, hut wardens were kind enough to lend us the same for the duration of track. Track was like a dream come true. You see snow on top of mountains, you wish you could be there & swoosh....patient walking lands you from base to top of mountains to snow to waterfalls. But every good thing in this world has a price, for us it was tedious walks from high altitudes to difficult steps.....but believe me, it was all worth it. Not to forget the kind & generous wardens & their entertaining hut talks....!! Our best memory of New Zealand definitely had this track in the Top 3

“Better than MIlford ?”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

Did the track with ULtimate HIkes'. Perfect service, Nice lodges, yet you can walk at your own speed. Was shorter than the MIlford, but more in the mountains Would prefer 1 day longer
Every fit person can do this track

“awesome hike and huge thanks to trackhoppers' car transfer”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

we did a 2-day trek from The Divide to Glenorchy with a stay at the McKensie hut. We had spectacular weather and generally found our pace to be faster than the posted hike times. In hindsight we wished we had decided to camp instead of bunking in the McKensie hut (hello, snoring and inconsiderate door slamming in the wee hours), but then at least setting out at sunrise afforded several peaceful and amazingly beautiful hours on the trail alone. It is a fantastic trek, and we were so grateful to Mike and Kiyomi at Trackhoppers for their idea to run a car-moving service. Their service made this trek possible for us, and meant we had 'extra' time that would have otherwise been spent back-tracking.

“Quite a hike”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

We trekked only a day on the Routeburn, to the Key Summit and back, but will return to walk the entire track. It's harder and not as well serviced as the Milford.
