A long but interesting day - Cruise across Lake Manapouri, 22km bus trip over the island then a 3 hour cruise around Doubtful Sound. Then a visit to the Manapouri underground power station was fabulous on the way back. Great value for a fabulous day!

Totally worth the money!!! We were a bit skeptic when we paid the bill, but we’ll never regret it!! First you take the boat over lake manapouri and then the bus to the beginning of doubdful sound. You are treated well on this part of the journey, with free thee or coffee and constant information about the geology, conservation, wildlife,… once on the fiord it’s like heaven! The scenery is mildly speaking just stunning!! We got to see a fair bit of wildlife too, like fjordland crested and little blue penguin, buller’s mollyhawk, many sea lions, dusky dolphins and a spectacular morning show of bottlenose dolphins which came to play in front of the boat. At one moment we also could go for a swim and a kayak trip in the middle of the fiord. Also the food was delicious. All you can eat, so good! Highly recommended!

A great day out - the cruise across the lake, the 2km coach trip down into the underground power station - fascinating for John, a retired electrical engineer and me, a totally ignorant electrician! Then on to the magnificence of Doubtful Sound - unforgettable in it's sheer majesty. We leave with so many memories.

We were a bit hesitant to book this due to the cost. However, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the experience made it worth the cost. The accomodations were adequate. The food was acceptable. We met many friendly people in the dining room. The wildlife sightings were great. The views of the fjiords in the early morning light were absolutely spectacular! I am so glad we invested in this tour! We were fortunate to have good weather for our tour.

No doubt one of the most amazing places on earth. Real Journeys go out of their way to make this tour special. We encountered dolphins swimming along the side of the boat and were taken to the edge of the Tasman Sea where deals were on an island. These touches by Real Joyrneys capped off a wonderful wilderness journey. Don't be put off by the possibility of fog. It adds to the atmosphere and lifts during the day.
