“Highly organised tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

Very well organised, but don't really enjoy big tour groups. Felt bombarded by people at the end of the day
The Sound and the native wildlife were wonderful. Perhaps an overnight cruise (certainly more expensive) would give a greater sense of peace and beauty?

“Doubtful Sound "journey" and Cruise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

Spent a wonderful day travelling to Doubtful Sound. Fun getting there - coach ride, catamaran trip over a lake, another coach ride over the pass to Deep Cove and then a 2 1/2 catamaran trip through the Sound to Nee Island which was covered with N.Z. fur seals. There was lots of rain so there were many dramatic waterfalls. Saw trees that looked like they should be in a Grimm's Fairy tale, black and misshapen. On the return trip we travelled to the Manapouri Power Station through a 2 km. spiral access tunnel (this is the only road in New Zealand that is driven on the right rather than on the left). Wonderful full day experience.

“An long but enjoyable day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

The representative in our Hotel, Reese in Queenstown suggested the Doubtful Sound as opposed to Milford the road journey is much less.
Having subsequently gone through the TA reviews I would tend to agree. This trip whilst a long day is just about right for the different views seen
All the transportation of coaches and boats was first class as was the lady driver/commentator on our coach.
Whilst you see many varied landscapes on this trip, it is not so exciting if you have visited the fiords in Scandinavia.
For all the above a good day - if rather expensive .

“Fiordland Expeditions - Overnight Cruise Doubtful Sound”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

Perfect Trip. Nice boat with maximum 12 people onboard, instead of the 70 people boat from Real Journey.
Very, very friendly and professional crew. Fantastic sights. Fresh fish and Lobster for Dinner (self caught on the same day).
To put in one word. Superb!

Its just breathtaking but its not promoted enough overseas but its so quiet, peaceful and beautiful. The overnight trips are amazing but equally the day trips. The guests I send come back amazed
