“Wonderful scenery.”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We only did a fraction of it but it is beautiful. Couldn't get enough of the ferns and mossy trees! Even met fellows who were there to try and reduce the numbers of stoats which are vermin in NZ as they prey on the native birds.

“luxury treck”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

The walk is amazing, would easily deserve 4 or 5 * but 50 $ per night in a hut?? a bit excessive despite the cooking facilities available and reasonable comfort. also the walk is a little too..well easy. it's fun to be into the wild when it actually feels wild, kepler makes you feel at comfort at all times with wooden steps and passages in many spots and extremely good signalling, which aren't a bad thing but slightly spoil the purpose of tramping compared. if you are looking for a safe beaten but stunning walk this imakes a good pic. easily done in 3 days for experienced trekkers be prepared for 4 seasons in each day at end of NZ summer.

“Challenging”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

We trekked for only a day on the Kepler, but will return to tramp the entire track. The portion along Lake Manapouri is scenic and relatively easy, but other parts are quite steep.

“So worth it!”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

I did the whole track starting at the control gates and finishing there again, being the first hut "luxmore hut" the weather wasn't the best the first day (rained a bit and snowed in the top) but did it more interesting and beautiful. It was the first time i went hiking and didn't have any trouble either with the cold or rain, if you are doing it just take good boots (waterproof would be perfect) and a raincoat, those are the most important things i reckon! I couldn't find drinkable water resources on my ways between huts, but i did in the huts. I met people up there and shared experiences, people with years of hiking experience and people like me! Two of them decided to stay the first night at luxmore hut, next day they did the whole pass till right before starting the way down (The second shelter after leaving luxmore hut) and went cack, spending the second night again in luxmore hut, finishing the third day going back the same way they had gone up. We met after finishing the track and i reckon they did it perfectly because i finished in 3 days but doing the whole track, and I gotta say that the last day wasn't impressive, or that nice but more tiring and dreary. They got to see the best part (just according to me) which is all the pass including a 10 min climb to mt luxmore summit.
Have a look on luxmore cave, only a few minutes away from luxmore hut!
oh, and there is a place to rent every kind of hiking clothes in Te Anau called Bev's Tramping Gear Hire just in case!

“Unbelievable”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

An amazing trek up the mountain, there are caves and a hut near the peak. Then you follow the alpine ridge for a few kms. Absolutely awesome
