We drove to Milford Sound from Te Anau, took about 2 hours & is a fantastic drive, we left early in morning to beat the traffic as it's a narrow road. Lot's to stop & see on the way, don't miss the Kea birds near the tunnel! The sound is fantastic, reminded us of Norway, a boat trip is a must.

Signed up for the day tour with Real Journey. Picked up promptly at bus stop at Frankton, Queenstown. Journey to Milford Sound was at least 5 hours journey on road (one way). It was worth it! Great views of the waterfalls, sights of sea lions, penguins. Breeze just capped off a great trip.

We arrived Milford Sound at 10am from Te Anau. We were booked for the 11.45am cruise. Our cruise took 2 hours 15 mins exactly as scheduled. It was really an exciting cruise where we came so close with the water fall on a boat. Would recommend the cruise to all

A Milford Sound trip involves two packages - the drive to the Sound along one of the world's most scenic roads and an enthralling cruise in the Sound. To avoid the mob from Queenstown, I made Te Anau my base. From there, it's an hour and a half drive if you leave early (say by 8 am). You can stop along the way, depending on how early you leave and what time is your cruise. I just drove all the way without stopping because I wanted to catch the 9 am cruise which returns around 11:30 am. Then, you can stop in as many places as you like on the drive back. And there are lots of places that you can stop. Check out the road map with the recommended stops. All of these are worth a look if you have the time. The drive back could take 4-6 hours or longer depending on which hikes you want to do.

This place is simply magical and words can't describe the feeling of cruising through the Fjord. Abundance of waterfalls, dolphins, seals.
I was fortunate to spot a penguin.
This is a must see place at least once in a lifetime.
Organized through Jucy Cruze Visa tour.

There are two places to get a Fiord sea trip; Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. We did the Doubtful Sound overnight trip but drove up to Milford Sound. The area is beautiful as is the road up from Te Anau.
