“Unexpected surprise”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

Staying in Te Anau on the way to Milford Sound Fat Duck was a great place to stop for the morning coffee and an evening meal. Service as friendly and the food was great, all set in a relaxed atmosphere. Unexpected surprise for such a small town. Definitely worth a visit, although it does get busy so worth booking for dinner.

“Loved the food and great service”
Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

We had a quick snack here on our first lunchtime in Te Anau and decided to book for dinner that evening - we were not disappointed - I had a chicken burger and my husband had the sausages and mash - both were very good and the puddings went down well too - all the waitresses were lovely and the service was excellent - we liked it so much we went back on our last night

“An average pub”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

From my experience, there isn't anything exceptional about the Fat Duck. It doesn't look that inviting from the outside, and inside is pretty average too. An average pub setting.

The food was fine, but certainly nothing to write home about. In fact, my flatbread came out as a rather mundane pizza.

Its there if you need, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

“It's just pub grub”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

We went there for dinner after Milford sounds. was recommended, but personally think it lacks character...It was a regular pub chain. The food was good but not spectacular. Had something like a baked dish with puffy pastry. Can;t remember what it was called, but it's a local dish. Pretty decent.
My friends had the fish of the day, fish and chips and lamb shank.

Service is fast even though they are busy. Prices are a bit on the higher end of pub prices.
