Ulva Island is fantatsic for birdwatching. The water taxi over can be a little hair raising if the weather is bad but it's well worth a visit.

The depth of Knowledge we gained from our brilliantly patient and articulate guide was a highlight of our trip. the birds are so tame and the vegetation spectacular. This tour was near the start of our holiday and enabled us to appreciate nature in N.Z. so much more.

Ulva does so much more than lead hikes. Her email correspondence with us in the months leading up to the trip greatly helped us figure out how to get the most for our three days. She suggested activities and gave the names of other guides who could assist us in our hiking and kiwi watching.

The guided walk with her was a highlight. She has a great personality and wonderful knowledge and enthusiasm for the flora and fauna of the island.

Ulva provided a wonderful half bird guiding trip to Ulva Island. We observed several rare endemic birds and other native fauna and flora. She was a great guide and tailored the our tour to see the rare birds on this unique island.

A superbly guided walk by Matt who was a great guide – very informative with excellent knowledge of all the local wildlife. The group size was about right – not too big to miss anything. We saw a huge variety of birds – Tui, Saddleback, Kakas, Weka, Robins to name but a few. It’s not just about birds though – lots of information about the Miru and Rimu trees in the native forest and pointing out the numerous orchids that we would have missed on our own. Ulva Island is an experience not to be missed.
