“Best restaurant in Queenstown”

I can't write a review that does this place justice. Just go.

The Bunker just has the best ambience created by the small but comfortable dining room, roaring fire and excellent playlist!

Service was brilliant, friendly and knowledgable. The enthusiastic Irish girl expertly matched a delicious red wine to my steak. And what a steak! The flavours were mouth watering and unusually for me it was so big I couldn't finish!

To top it all off my sticky sweet date pudding was just divine.

Well done team Bunker. We'll be back.

“Excellent!”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

The Bunker was so good that while we were only in Queenstown for 3 nights we chose to eat here a second night after having the Degustation Menu on our first night. Both food and wine were excellent. The Bunker restaurant is small and intimate with a lovely ambience. I highly recommend!

“Nice venue - great food - small portions.”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

We got messed about a bit getting our table for no apparent reason except maybe understaffed but the place is tiny ???

So once in, the food arrived and all was good. The food was excellent though the portion a little on the small side and I'm not a big eater.

A little on the higher end price wise.

Lovely cosy little venue with an open fire place. Good spot for a special evening though book ahead.

They also have a great bar and outside section upstairs so this place does work well for a casual afternoon or evening spot for a drink.

“Wonderful evening, great food, excellent service”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I went here with a large group of 9. We were given a table in the bar above the main restaurant in front of an open fire and we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Great ambiance. As the name of the restaurant suggests, no windows but a comfy room. Got a little warm with the fire, but we had a door that could be opened. The entrees ranged from squid to quail to pate and a tasting plate. Divine. The mains were equally creative and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The deserts were disappointing, especially after such amazing entrees and mains. Service was impeccable. Wine list very good, especially the selection of central Otago varieties. Not the least expensive restaurant in Queenstown and one you would have to know about to find. But well worth the effort and the cost.

“Birthday dinner amazement”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

My boyfriend and friends surprised me with a dinner at Bunker for my birthday recently on a trip to NZ. The boys arrived early and were able to sit at the bar and drink until we got there. We then went upstairs to a more private room we shared with a large table and another small table. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed and dark and there was a lovely fire and couch there. Our waiter was very explanatory and our meals were brought out slowly but we were in no rush so it gave us more time to drink and talk. The duck special apparently was delicious however small. The entrees were brilliant! And both the entrees and mains were all Masterchef style meals. My friends had arranged a cake for me and the waiter brought this out on cue with candles and all. It was a lovely evening and I look forward to eating here again on another visit.
