“Impressed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

I have never written a review on her before, but after being so surprised by the menu at Speights, I felt like I had to inform every other visiting or residing vegetarian about this place!

So I eat fish, not meat and always tend to have the same old same old, fish and chips! I never usually like the sound of the ONE veggie option, written at the bottom of menus - basically an after thought! :) I was spoilt for choice at Speights: veggie pie, veggie lasagna, veggie pastry thingys - which i had and they were so tasty! I think there might have been other veggie options but I was just so happy to see those three, I thought I shouldn't confuse myself with more options and keep looking through the menu! ....so basically, thank you Speights, I live in Queenstown and I will most certainly be back! yum!!!!

“Wholesome hearty food, great beers and a warm welcome.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Saturday night in Queenstown and a Bledisloe game on, yet the wonderful staff still managed to find a table for my group of four. The food was tasty and nutritious and the portion size just right after a full day on the mountain. Great selection of wine and beers too. Awesome staff. Love the roaring fires. Will definitely be back.

A reliable favourite that usually delivers. Great for big groups of people, my friends and I enjoy coming here every year for the atmosphere

“Nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

Great place to go if you want to hide out with a quiet drink. A little on the expensive side for the meals, but the food is great. The fireplaces in the restaurant and bar areas are a lovely touch as is all of the copper work inside and outside. Quieter than the two pubs across the street (1876 and the Pig and Whistle) so great for a bit of peace with a great beer.

My husband enjoyed the surrounds, the fireplace and the quality of the beer. He and his son in law whiled away a few pleasant hours
