“Great local food, wine with thoughtful sharing menu options”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Amisfield is very close to Queenstown, in a great setting that has winter and summer options. The menu is designed to be shared and this is the way to go. The quality of food was excellent and there are ample wine choices for pairing, or head out to the tasting room nearby. Great service and location making this a perfect spot for a long, late lunch.

“Stunning location, excellent food, one outstanding waiter & beautiful wine”
Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Spacious car park, impressive buildings & enormous statues greet travellers but where's the food? Up 2 flights of stairs & hey presto - there's the bistro! Open the doors & you're greeted by an excited buzz. Decor is pure style. Through to the otherside where a courtyard & water feature keep you company while you wine & dine. Light entrees were delicious especially with the 2008 Pinot Noir. The sun was low at 4 o'clock, bathing everyone in a rich warm amber glow - perfect

“Great spot for long lunch”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

It was our first visit to Amisfield for lunch. The friends we were with had done Trust The Chef a number of times and their recommendation was enough. It's a great concept giving you more courses and variety than picking a la carte. The food was all very simple and relied on high quality ingredients and handled with care. The Pinot was great - all in all an excellent spot to lazy away a weekend afternoon.

“Pleasant social lunch opportunity”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

A well-designed and appointed building houses this bistro. Two fire places create a pleasantly warm atmosphere. Just be aware that on the western side sound from the bistro bar reflects from windows and the high roof ceiling - best avoid that area if you want to have a conversation over lunch/ dinner. Well, this is called a bistro, not a restaurant, so expect some lively soundscape ...

The menu and service is geared for sharing dishes - a most pleasant experience, indeed, and benchmarking for your home cooking, too. In any case, a meal here yields plenty of inspiration for foodie parties at home ;-)
The rabbit rillete was very good, and the beet cured salmon just looks stunning (but was less impressive in taste [minimal flavour, salty]).
Overall, definitely worth a detour! Especially when sharing the experience with friends.
