“The Best Place I have ever stayed in New Zealand”
Reviewed November 25, 2008

After staying at creeksyde, I found the people and the place fantastic. There is not one thing I can say wrong about it. The cleanliness was way above all expectations. The staff were freindly and always willing to help. they have a fantastic recycling scheme which puts you at no inconvienience. i would highly recomend Creeksyde to all people visiting New Zealand as it is definately the best.

This place is all geared up for campa's and not overly for the bedrooms.

The room we stayed in was not overly clean, I had to ask for a dirty bar of soap to be removed from the carpet, I just couldn't be bothered to ask for the place to be dusted.

It has to be the noisiet place on earth, when the staff are not banging aound it sounds like you are actaully sleeping next to a shower that is on all night.

The room we were in is very poorly laid out, and the only way to do the washing up is either in the bathroom or on top of the fridge. The decor is very poor and lghting really bad, or non exsistant.

If they want to contiue being "green" then they need to stop leaving the TV's on stand by.

And one other small point employees need to realsie that their office is next door to paying guests (who at 7.30 am are asleep!!!)

Saying all that the place really is in a good location and the staff are ok. This Top 10 is not a patch on the others we have stayed at .

This campsite is weird!

We toured NZ in campavan and mostly stayed in Top 10 campsites. We'd heard that accommodation in Queenstown was expensive to decided to sleep in the campa at Creeksyde.

The campsite is completely weird and confusing! It's like someone has gone crazy on outside decor - there were crazy outdoor ornaments and sculptures all over the place. The facilities themselves were ok - but because the campsite was so 'bitty' (or tacky) it looked a little unclean (it probably wasn't)!

We slept in the campa for one night and chose to sleep in a double room the following night. The room was basic - which was absolutly fine with us - but it smelt so MUSTY it was grim. The furniture was old and horrible and none of the decor matched.

The bathroom light gave off a grey/yellow tinge hence making the bathroom look unclean.

Overall the site was ok, if a little weird and the facilities weren't as nice or clean as other Top 10 places we had stayed.

Having said that the reception staff were very helpful and booked a trip on our behalf which was great. Wouldn't choose to stay there again.

  • Liked — helpful front desk staff

We have now stayed at the Creeksyde in Queenstown 3 times and its one of the best places to stay for a family on a budget in Queenstown which can be very expensive!. Short walk into the centre of town and the lake, 2 minute walk to the supermarket and the ski shuttle buses stop outside the door. Yes, privacy can be an issue, but hey, you get to meet a heap of great people from around the world! The woodburner in the communal lounge area is a hit. A great place to relax at the end of a great day on the slopes with a glass of red and chat with others. Our kids love this place (we have 4 aged from 3 to 13 years) - everyone is relaxed and all of the kids get together for a great time at the end of the day! One downside - the internet is reeeal slow - you may want to check out internet cafes in the town centre. Apart from that, the Creeksyde has everything you need. Already planning our next trip back for ski 2008.

Don't let the exterior put you off. We chose the 2 bedroom unit with extra bed in the LR. In a place where EVERYTHING is expensive, we were quite surprised to get such a great place for $155 (more than our usual budget but CHEAP for Queenstown). This was one of the nicest, cleanest and spacious rooms we've had. Clean, modern and exceptionaly well appointed, it was like an appartment. On the downside - this holiday park is ridiculously over crowded with tents and campervans on every piece of exposed ground. We in contrast had some privacy with a 'private' courtyard and patio (with many onlookers). This is walking distance to downtown.
