“A peaceful haven for the weary”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

Our family had been camping for the past 7 days and we needed a bed and a bathtub! I had not checked out any reviews for this place but just pulled in to inquire about a room. It was exactly what we needed! I knew we were in the right place when the owner showed us the room in advance and gave us a mug of milk for complimentary morning coffee.

The beds were a bit softer than I like but the room was clean, quiet and dark. The bathtub was a jetted type and what a treat!! It was walking distance to many eateries and what a view there from the parking lot. Pretty flowers growing and the place appears very well cared for.

Despite Queenstown's many amazing outdoor attractions and walks, we're glad we were able to offer the treat you deserved. It has been known for some adventurers to go for a swim in our 80km long natural bathtub at the bottom of the road, otherwise known as Lake Wakatipu, but it's home of the brave!

We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in New Zealand and it was great to welcome you to Alexis.

Purely touristic towns like Queenstown are the most difficult in choosing where to stay. It is necessary to balance the cost-benefit taking into consideration the accommodations, location, service facilities and extras like a nice view. We believe we found all this nothing cene Alexis Motor Lodge. The are large and well-equipped rooms and is located a 10-minute walk from the center of Queenstown, has covered parking and one of the best views of the Remarkables. The rooms offer a well equipped kitchen and good sized room with everything we need for a good stay. The think we found a bargain considering the unbelliavable 180 degree views from our room.

Room Tip: Make a booking well in advance and if you are traveling as a couple, pleeeeeease ask for room 11, yo...

The motel itself would be a fairly typical motel style but room we had booked into was very comfortable with a shared patio area outside with a small outdoor cafe table and 2 chairs.
The walk into town was down a very steep road and coming home up the steep hill could be an issue for some people. Felt it was good value for money

Room Tip: Would recommend rooms to back of the building which have the best views.

My husband and I were comfortable in our room--it was the right next to the office, so we didn't need to climb the stairs. The view outside our window was awesome. It was convenient to have a good-sized kitchen with all the cooking and dining stuff we needed, as we had breakfasts and dinners in our room.

The Front Desk staff were very friendly, helpful and patient.

My family and I stayed at the Alexis Motor Lodge for 3 nights; our room had spectacular mountain and lake views and the room was comfortable and clean. All amenities were provided and the kitchen and bathroom were functional. Free DVD rentals were available at the front desk.
The lodge is a 3-5 minute drive from the centre of Queenstown and there is ample parking available in the garage below the lodge.
The staff were excellent; really friendly and helpful (plus their cat Scooter is truly adorable).
Overall it was a fantastic stay; I cannot wait for my next trip to Queenstown.

After a long tour of NZ this was the perfect place to chill out.We stayed in a small studio which was excellent value and very comfortable. It had agreat view of the Remarkables and good facilities. The room was spotless and the bed quality.Bathroom good.
Our hosts Kelly and Adrienne were very friendly without being intrusive. They gave us good advice and were fun to talk to.
Lovely walk into town along the lakeside.
Take a trip to Doubtful Sound with Real Journeys. Not cheap but well worth the money. The drive to Glenorchy was wonderful and the area around the village is the Lord of the Rings landscape .Awesome !
Enjoyed the King George cafe on the beach and the Pig and Whistle-Cheap beer! Ivy and Lolas for an evening meal.
Arrowtown has lovely shops and cafes. Its old Chinese area is very interesting.
Bluff oysters amazing and for wine lovers try the Gibston Pinot Noir.An expensive treat.

The views are spectacular, the room very spacious and comfortable, big beds too. ABout 10 minutes on foot from main streets. There are chairs to sit in front of the rooms to relax and take in the views at dusk. The hosts are very friendly and you should visit Scooter the cat too!
