We were lucky enough to spend the night in the penthouse suite. The room was comfortable, kitchen great, loved the cinema room. Took a little while to heat the place up to the temp we wanted, but the fire was great. Staff were friendly and helpful and the parking was easy. Right in town to stroll in with lake views. Would love to return!

Stayed here on my honeymoon in July 2014. We were greeted in a friendly manner by the front desk staff and even offered soup upon our arrival, which I thought was a nice touch. The hotel is impressive from the front, but our 3-day stay left a lot to be desired.

I share the sentiments of other reviewers who have taken issue with the cost of internet access. $40 for 3 days seems extremely steep, but we wound up buying a package because we didn't want to deal with the inconvenience of having to go outside in the cold to use the free computer in the other building. While having a free option is appreciated, the location could not be worse - you need a code from the front desk to use the computer, but the computer could not be further away from the front desk - it's in a completely different building! Baffling.

We were assigned what was probably the worst room in the entire hotel - first floor, all the way at the end of a hallway, and the "lake view" was laughable. I imagine the views from the suites are much better, but we were treated to a view of the side of the building next door, unless we wanted to squeeze ourselves out onto the balcony that barely fit two people on it. The room was small and oddly laid out, and lacked a few things that I'd consider standard - for example, there was no trash can in the bathroom, and no tissues anywhere.

The most frustrating thing about the room, though, was a sign on the glass shower door, which said something to the effect of "Please make sure the bathroom door is closed while the shower is on, as the steam will set off the fire alarm." This means that once they realized this was an issue, they decided that the easiest thing to do was slap a sticker on the door instead of actually fixing the problem by putting some sort of ventilation in the bathroom or moving the fire alarm. I expected better from a hotel like Peppers.

The breakfast was average - wouldn't have paid for it, but it was nice to have the option to grab something quick before heading out for the day. It would have been nice to be able to enjoy the mountain and lake views while eating, though - the breakfast room has no windows!

Housekeeping was inconsistent at best during our stay. Our first day, they didn't show up until 4 pm. Luckily we were getting ready to head out again, otherwise we'd have had to turn them away (who wants to stand there awkwardly while they make the bed?). On the second day, we had used all the toilet paper and left the empty roll on the holder - still there when we came back. The bed was made, fresh towels on the rack, but I guess they couldn't be bothered to check the toilet paper holder.

When we went to use the fitness center, we inquired about the availability of water, and were informed there was no water available in the fitness center, and if we wanted to purchase some, they could "track down housekeeping" so we could buy a bottle for $5 (!!!). Another very disappointing element of our stay. A fitness center should have water available.

Overall, the negatives about this hotel outweigh the positives, especially considering the other options available in Queenstown. If we make it back to this lovely city again, we will look elsewhere for lodging.

Room Tip: The suites on higher floors have better views, but single rooms seem to be pushed off to the sides a...

Stayed 4 nights in a 2 bedroom Lakeview apartment, which was huge with a very large living area and gas fire. The view from the balcony was wonderful. I would highly recommend this property. The only negatives were that depending on the time you show up breakfast can be a bit of a bunfight with no tables available to sit at, and room service meals are obviously outsourced and arrive in polystyrene boxes. These are minor issues however and I wold definitely stay at Peppers again.

Room Tip: If there are 4 of you the lakeview apartments are much more spacious than the 2 bedroom junior suite...

We have just had a wonderful week in Queenstown, staying at Peppers for a week in Jul 2014.

Peppers is a wonderful place to stay - our 3bedroomed apartment was amazing, with a view over the mountains and the lake which was just across the road!! We loved watching the Earnslaw go up and down the lake each day, as well as all the other lake activity.

The apartment was exceptionally set up and very comfortable- we all wish we had a lounge suite like that one in our homes! The only thing we found was that the twin bedroom was a bit on the small side for our teenage kids and all their stuff, although the room did still have it's own ensuite. The apartment overall had plenty of room for us and visitors. My sister and family stayed in a courtyard apartment which was also very comfortable and suited them well.

The people at Peppers made our stay even more special. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and nothing was a problem. It was the perfect place for us to spend a week celebrating our 'big' birthdays, thank you to everyone at Peppers.

The location is also brilliant, an easy and very nice walk, just 5-10 minutes to town, alone the path beside the lake.

I highly recommend Peppers Beacon as a great place to stay in Queenstown. We look forward to going back to stay there again in the future.

Room Tip: The Lake/Mountain view apartments are definitely the best there, waking up to the view and outlook w...

Really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Peppers Beacon. The reception staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was good although sound did travel between other units but not an issue during our stay. It is a good location and a short walk into town. Breakfast was vey good with a wide range to cater for tastes. Only drawback was the cost of internet. It was well overpriced wanting $40 for a 3 day package and $25 for one day. We utilised free wifi when downtown when required however i believe Peppers need to be realistic with these charges. Outside of this I would recommend and would certainly stay their again. We stayed in 622 which is a garden unit but being near the end of the complex offered views of the lake and mountains. Very happy overall.

Room Tip: As above we stayed in 622 which was good. I also wouldn't recommend a room directly adjacent tot...

Stayed here in July, had a nice room looking out to the lake although couldn't really use the balcony as the windows from the units on each side looked directly out on to the balcony so no privacy and also no outdoor furniture.
Great location, easy walk to town, and nice warm room.
Buffet breakfast was very average, cooked breakfast was very bland.
Only downfalls - you had to pay for wifi when all nearby hotels offer it for free and there is no bar or restaurant (only for breakfast).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private balcony with outdoor furniture.

Stayed two nights - we loved this hotel, it was clean, comfortable and roomy. The continental breakfast was great. The only downfall, which was not the hotels fault, was the unruly children at breakfast. The parents allowed the young children to serve themselves unsupervised to the breakfast and were sticking their hands in all the food then spilled it all over the floor and benchtops. They then proceeded to place it back into the bowls Yuk!! Maybe the kitchen staff could control this behaviour more? Otherwise, we found the staff very friendly and we would definitely stay here again.
