“Fabulous stay!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

I cannot say how much I enjoyed my couple of nights at Peppers Beacon. I stayed in a lake view room on the 3rd floor with uninterrupted views of the lake and mountains. The 1 bedroom apartment was spacious and well appointed and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Well done Peppers! I will be back!!

Room Tip: Ask for level 3 at the front. Sure, right on the road but the traffic stops at night time.

Booked on hotels.com, stayed in a hotel room (or a studio, not sure). Enjoyed partial lake views that were ok for the price we paid although we didn't spend too much time in the room as there is so much to see and do in Queenstown. Location is excellent; just a short stroll to the city centre. Staff was helpful and rooms were clean. Complimentary guest laundry was a bonus!

Two nights with full breakfast. Very reasonably priced. Had a fifth floor room (504) which was average size, comfy and clean, and a glimpse of the lake. It was very private and quiet but that could have been luck with no neighbours. To get to the room was rather convoluted by lift and then through a courtyard - difficult if it rained and too many steps when lugging suitcases. However it was very pretty and nicely maintained..
The staff were very pleasant and breakfast was delicious with good variety.
The hotel was a short stroll along the lakeside to town so very convenient to everything.
I would stay again - perhaps with a balcony room next time.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback of your recent stay with us. It was wonderful to read your comments of the location of our property, and that you enjoyed your full breakfast. I will ensure this is passed to our chef.

In regards to your room we are sorry that you found access difficult, if we were aware of this we could or moved you to another location in the property. A lot of guests do like prefer room 511 and 510 due to having access to our courtyard area, particularly the summer months. (Room 504 on the building is the room next door to where you stayed).

We look forwards to welcoming you back again in the future, if you would like a room with a balcony I defiantly recommend booking a 1 bedroom lake view suite.

Booked on Wotif. On level 2 at the West end of the building. View of the lake and mountains. Comfy bed and well appointed. Confusing broadband as it needs a network cable. One was not offered at check in. Lucky I had one with me. Considering the broadband modem is on the back of the TV, it would have been so much easier to install a wireless one. In all the hotels I have stayed in I have never had to change the channel on the TV to access the broadband! Vanity bench top has obviously been wet and is split and flaking. Instructions on the TV for the remote don't match the remote that was supplied. There is a baby next door and I can clearly hear it screaming and the parents talking. Have used the towels around the door jamb to minimise the noise. Was expecting a mini bar or an in-house bar, but no. Considering the rack rate is $263, I would have expected more.

Room Tip: Go for level 7 and ask to see room first before you accept.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback of your recent stay with us.
It was great you found the property well appointed and the beds comfy.
With regards to wireless internet in all of guests’ rooms, we are in the final stages of this project and plan to have this completed in December/ January 2013. We do offer broadband cables at the front desk for guests to borrow, however many guests do carry them for their own convenience.
The Movie & Internet system that we have at present does require you to access this information via the TV. However the new system will also require you to do the same, this allows the guests to independently access and control information when it is convenient for them.
We have followed up with Housekeeping to ensure the correct remote has been placed into this room. As the room you were in opens up to another room next door and from time to time the remotes are changed with our staff realising and we just change them back once we do know.
This will also be part of the noise challenge, if we are aware that there is a noise complaint, we will offer a room move where possible.
I hope we have the opportunity to welcoming you back again in the future.

Regards Donna Stewart

This is a nice property. Spacious living areas look out to the lake. Good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. All rooms are well appointed. Plenty of glasses and plates in the kitchen. A quiet 2-drawer dishwasher. Large fridge. A 5-minute walk to the town centre - close, without being hassled by the tourists. Too bad the incompetent service staff spoiled the stay. We were informed that wifi was available. Each staff had different view of whether it was only available in some rooms, whether only broadband would be available, whether there was a trial that allowed only 2 devices to hook in. It took an hour of asking, and then further exploration to sort this simple issue out. Three of us were sharing, and when I arrived, they were able to confirm my existence under the name of the person who make the booking. As my bag was delayed, the reception confirmed that the bag would be brought to my room. But when Air New Zealand called with news of the arrival of my delayed bag, they were informed by reception that I didn't exist. When I asked for a taxi booking, giving my name, a taxi arrived indicating they were there to pick up the person whose name the room was booked under. How incomponent can you get. We decided to stop asking questions as we no longer had confidence in the staff. Queenstown is full of young travellers on working visas, but this reception seemed not to be just itinerant foreign workers. In any case, management needs to pay attention to systems and training. A beautiful facility is otherwise spoiled by the experience of service.

We stayed here to meet up with some family who were staying elsewhere for my sister's 13th birthday.

We booked one of the cheaper rooms that came with breakfast and stayed for 4 nights.

The room itself, which was on the 7th floor, was clean but also very small. The bathroom was clean and water pressure was fine. The heating in the room was fantastic, it was quite cold weather when we stayed. We were directly by the elevators, the noise from them didn't affect us but other guests that were checking out very early in the morning did disturb us.

The worst bit however, was that our room was interconnecting to the next one. It clearly was right next to their kitchen and we could hear absolutely every word. We were woken multiple times by children crying, adults arguing, people shouting in different languages and also a drunken party. We didn't complain to reception as this was not directly the hotel's fault. Next time though we would definitely ask to have our room changed!

Staff were friendly and greeted us whenever we walked past including maintenance staff which was nice.

Breakfast was good and fresh with a nice selection. A special mention to the man that was around for the breakfast buffet, sorry, can't remember his name but he was relatively new and from Australia. He greeted us every morning and came to us for a chat!

We were looking forward to using the spa and gym but neither was really up to normal hotel standards so we didn't bother.

We would stay here again however not in the same room type we booked just due to the noise from the adjoining room.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us. It is wonderful that you enjoyed aspects of your stay.
With regards to the noise from the room next door, we would have no hesitation in addressing these issues to ensure you were able to enjoy your stay.
The gym at present has a bike and running machine, we are awaiting a new cable machine to arrive to replace the free weights.
I hope we have the opportunity to welcoming back to Queenstown and also to our property.

Kind Regards

Great place to stay if you have some spare coin, is it worth it? Absolutely ! Book it. If you are staying for longer than 3 or more days, as you do want to sit back on your balcony to enjoy the view, take lake view room, high floor
