Balmoral Lodge
Ranked #15 of 45 Queenstown B&B and Inns
Reviewed December 8, 2007

Choose this B&B from it's rating on Tripadvisor and have to say we were a bit disappointed. The stay did not start well when we were given a text book example of how not to greet paying guests. Having arrived at the time we had advised previously, we were asked asked why we were there. Having explained that we were booked in for three nights our host (who did not introduce himself) went off to "check the book". Having ascertained that we were indeed genuine guests we were given a very quick tour of the home "breakfast in there between 8 and 9, Guest lounge here but you won't need to use it as you have your own, and this is your room." We were then left to get on with it. No offer of a cup of tea/drink after our journey or help in with our luggage!
Things improved in the morning with the arrival of Cis who was very friendly and helpful. On the plus side the breakfasts were excellent although for 350 dollars a night you might expect a bit more flexibility on times. Between 8 & 9am is a bit restrictive and when we asked once for a late breakfast the answer was a polite "no". The room was good with plenty of space, lovely views and looking out over a well kept garden. The furnishings were ok although the carpet had seen better days. Location wise it was excellent being only a ten minute walk to the town centre (bit longer coming back due to the steep hills)!
Overall this place is overpriced for what it offers. The accomodation is of good standard but even for Queenstown 350 dollars a night is over the top. You can get the same or better in Queenstown for 100 dollars a night less, even if the view is not as impressive.

Very comfortable stay for our family. Beautiful views over Queenstown, lake and mountains. Well appointed accommodation. Very close to all the attractions in the area. Will stay there again. The photos are taken from the lawn in front of Balmoral Lodge.

Fantastic trip to NZ. Stayed in Queenstown.
Wonderful hosts to be found at Balmoral Lodge Luxury B&B.
Luxurious beds , beautiful rooms. Internet booking too.
Views to die for from bedrooms and their ensuites bathrooms
Breakfast so good we skipped lunch.
Nothing was too much bother for our hosts from booking car rental to organising wild adventures from sky diving to jetboating and snow boarding.
NZ hospitality so hard to beat.

The property is a Small and Friendly Guest House. The amenities exceeded our expectations - as did the views of the Lake and Mountains. Breathtaking. Only 20 minutes drive from the ski lifts. Spotlessly clean. Great breakfasts.
The Hosts were extremely friendly and on hand to chat and give us advice on what to see and do. Great value for money - I would genuinely recommend this property to anyone. I will be another of their repeat customers.

My partner and I spent 4 nights in the king suite and then 6 nights in the honeymoon suite. Both rooms were fantastic. The king suite was bigger than the honeymoon suite and even a little more private, however the 2 person spa in the honeymoon suite was a real delight after a full day skiing. The lodge hosts are very friendly and welcoming, breakfast each morning was delicious with fresh friut and yohurt, cereals and a cooked breakfast made to order. We would have no hesitations in coming back for further visits.
