Had a very plesant stay at Hurley's over the New Year period (30th December 2009 - 2nd January 2010). The staff were incredibly helpful, the view of the lake from our balcony was superb and the rooms were immaculate - they appeared to have been recently renovated judging by the new carpet and bed furnishings. The receptionist made several suggestions on wineries to visit, restaurants to try and even arranged a water taxi for us. Best of all was the location - we were downtime in less than fifteen minutes (walking), particularly good at that busy time of the year when parking can be chaotic in the city. Would definitely recommend Hurleys!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment that had a great living space with plenty of space to all gather in. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of town and access to a running track along the lake just down the hill.

I've just read the other reviews and I can't believe how critical people can be - I had an absolutely lovely time at Hurleys and was so impressed with the value for money I received. I've stayed at other 4plus motels in the past and they have been dated, unclean, faded, jaded and just generally miserable. Hurleys is up there with any good hotel in Queesntown. We stayed just after a refurbishment and the room was beautiful. I couldn't actually believe how cheap the room was for what we got. There is a kitchen, but why cook when there are so many restaurants to see. However, we found all the amenities perfect for cooking our own breakfast in the mornings.

The location is 10 minutes walk into town down hill but then everything in Queenstown is within 10 minutes so location is fine.

The staff were more than welcoming and helpful and had an extensive knowledge to answer all our questions.
I would definitely would stay at Hurleys again - I wanted to write this review to say thankyou to a wonderful stay and that our accomodation was more than adequate.

Property is fine but owners very unfair and definitely not ethical as they charged us for breakfast they advised was included and off-site at Millenium over the road. We were faced if paying an extra NZ$126 over the quoted rate even after Hotel Owner advised us to go for the breakfasts off-site. All my documentation supported the breakfast was included. Property otherwise OK - location and room size are good. Will not bother ever staying there again - I am a regular Queenstown visitor but Hurley's will be given a wide berth - suggest you look else where as the business ethics STINK!

We were touring the South Island as first time visitors from Australia and booked Hurleys through a travel agent that did some of our planning for us.
Upon arrival the chap at reception was quite pleasant and helpful (apparently the son of the owners who were away on a break of their own). He helped us carry our bags to our room which we hadn't requested and was appreciated. Our room was a Premier Studio which was quite spacious and certainly very comfortable for a 4 night stay. There was a small balcony but the views were limited and not very appealing (a glimpse of scenery and a lot of backyards). The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well set up although the spa could have done with a service as only a few of the jets actually worked properly. Our biggest problem was the heat of the room. The thermostat was set at about 22 degrees with a request that it not be touched or altered. The first night we had to sleep with the external door open (in September, in Queenstown and we don't like the cold!!!) so oppressive was the heat. After we complained we were told that all the heating had been redone (upgraded presumably) and the staff weren't sure that they could do anything. We encouraged them to try and they obviously did as afterwards our room was quite comfortable. Clearly the place is set up for skiers with separate storage areas for their gear. This was of no interest or consequence for us. The gym seemed to be well used (not by us - we were on holiday). The laundry was clean and reasonably priced. If we had wanted to cook, the kitchen facilities and equipment in our room were good but with all the wonderful Queenstown restaurants available why would you cook? It was disappointing there was no internet availability for those of us who weren't carrying our own laptop with wireless capability. Carparking was designed under Rafferty's rules and would no doubt be a problem at busy times. For those with a modicum of fitness the town centre was only a 10 minute downhill walk away. This of course meant it was about a 15 minute uphill walk back which was very good for aerobic exercise.
All in all not the most wonderful place we have stayed but pleasant, comfortable and clean.

We weren't sure if we got a small room as we had booked through loyalty points - but it was just a bed, 2 chairs and a very small table - no drawers, lounge or decent cupboard.
We stayed for 5 nights, the room was very clean, part view of the mountain, the spa was also pretty tiny - but still appreciated after a day on the slopes.
Don't plan to cook, there's was one frying pan big enough to cook 2 eggs and thats it - but the food in Queenstown is so fantastic, and reasonable - there is no need.
The stroll into town takes about 5 minutes - we were pretty lazy and took taxis up the hill home after dinner and drinks each night - only $5
