Amazingly beautiful location with personalised attention complimented with ultra comfortable accomodation sums up the Azur experience.... Guest privacy and personal preferences were given utmost importance to make our stay perfect. Very cordial staff made sure to serve Asian Veg snacks. canopies, meals which was our food prefrence...

We spent a week at Azur as part of a 'belated honeymoon' ski-ing trip and loved every moment!
The quality of the villas is excellent and the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We particularly enjoyed the delicious, freshly prepared food and were completely gluttonous during our stay. A somewhat obscure breakfast request (just made as a passing comment by my husband) was available the next morning, and without a menu, anything we happened to feel like in the morning (omelette, pancakes, French toast, full fry-up etc) was cheerfully and quickly produced. After a full day of ski-ing we would return to the room to find it clean and warm with the fire going, and a basket of home-made afternoon tea and pre-dinner canapes would be delivered to our door. The canapes are fabulous, but you do need to ask for them specially, they don't seem to be offered.
We also found the staff very helpful in organising the delivery/collection of our ski gear, driving us to and from both the ski bus location and restaurants several times a day, and planning our itinerary.
Possibly the best thing about Azur is the view. There was a full moon during the week that we stayed and if we woke in the night we could see the lake and mountain opposite perfectly lit and filling the enormous windows.
Don't bother going to the Onsen hot pools, it's nicer in your own heated spa bath with the windows folded back and a glass of wine.
Our only complaint is that the 'take-away' option of delivering food to your room isn't really a success. The food just doesn't stay hot, there's no way to reheat it once it's there, and the food that was recommended was not at all tasty. The only other problem is the lack of gym/swimming pool. Given the location, it's obviously better to be active outdoors, but as daily 'gym-junkies' if we hadn't been there ski-ing we would have wanted exercise facilities.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here as part of a trip to the south island and loved it. Beautiful rooms, amazing views of the lake and warm and professional service. A complimentary bottle of white wine was chilling in our room on arrival which was lovely. We went into Queenstown for dinner each evening and enjoyed a relaxed breakfast either in our room or at the main lodge. This is how a hotel should be. It's the perfect retreat and we hope to return.

Azur really won my vote. I stayed there 2 nights and it was absolutely fantastic. Staffs, foods, champagne and room services were excellent enough to make me feel like home. No need to write a long review as they deserved to be called a true professional business

Azur is every bit as spectacular as all the reviews say it is. We kept going back and forth between Azur or Matakauri because we wanted a property with on site restaurant for dinner. We ended up going with Azur and discovered that although they do not have an onsite restaurant for dinner, they will provide transportation to wherever you choose in Queenstown or they will pick up your dinner and bring it to you in the form of room service.

Finding the property was easy although you may think you are lost because you have to go through a local neighborhood to get there. Once you arrive, prepare to be spellbound! The main house is GORGEOUS and the views are PHENOMENAL. We were greeted, given a tour, then shown to our room. We stayed in #4 and it was jaw dropping! Every detail of the décor was perfect. However, the star of the whole place is the floor to ceiling views from every room, to include the bathroom. The water is so vivid blue it does not look real. We felt like we had finally arrived on vacation. All the stress and tension of travel melted away. We requested a light lunch and glass of champagne to celebrate the perfection we found ourselves in.

Another great thing about Azur is you can have your cocktails in your room or enjoy them in the main house with the other guests. We opted for staying in our room. The canapés they offered with the cocktails were delicious. For dinner, not wanting to leave the best view in town for a restaurant full of people, we opted for their room service option and went with the Thai restaurant. It was the best Thai food we had in all of New Zealand. It was brought to the room and laid out on our dining room table just as if Azur had prepared it themselves.

Breakfast the next morning was as light or heavy as we wanted it to be. Again, it is whatever you like, in your room or in the main house. This time we opted for the main house to mix things up before we departed. Overall, Azur is sheer perfection. The staff is amazing, the rooms are unbelievable, and the food is top notch. If you want an amazing lodging experience while in New Zealand then a stay at Azur should definitely be on your list.

Other great dining options for lighter fare in Queenstown are Vudu and Fergburger. My husband and the group he went heli-biking with went to Fergburger for lunch and all said it was the best burgers they had ever eaten.

Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand. My husband enjoyed some heli-biking with Vertigo (he wanted to go with Fat Tyre but they were booked) while I opted for a helicopter tour of the Southern Alps and Milford Sound with Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopter tours. I was lucky to have perfect weather. The only tour they had left when I booked the day prior was the Southern Alps with glacier landing and Milford Sound boat tour with the Pride of Milford (very nice boat!). It was the highlight of the south island for me. The glacier landing was surreal. After flying over the Southern Alps though, I could have done without the boat tour of the Sound. But, I am an adventure junkie so if you enjoy boat tours then go for it.

This was a very nice group of villas for a short stay in Queenstown. Service excellent. Views of the lake and surrounding area. Fairly private setting, if a little close on the spacing of the seperate villas. Great breakfast service, no problem with getting a sack lunch if requested, evening drinks and snacks, and dinner brought to your suite from a close restaurant if requested; (how can you beat a private dinner on your own terrace with the view and great food).

My wife and I finished off our small tour of the South Island with 3 nights at Azur to spoil ourselves. We were not disappointed. The villa we occupied had stunning 180 degree views of the lake and was well appointed and spacious. The bathroom itself was bigger than some hotel rooms! The living area, complete with fire place and sofa, opens up onto the balcony which has one of the most amazing vistas I've ever seen. Service was great as one would expect. We ordered food in twice because we didn't want to leave the room. It would have been nice to have seen a fly screen on the sliding door and also the option of dinner cooked on sight (even if pre-booking was necessary). Overall this is an excellent establishment which should not be missed.
