Three of us went to JSH for dinner and was delighted with the whole dinner experience.
Lovely restaurant with a large gas fire with sofas to sit in front if you are waiting for your table.
As for the steaks "devine". My husband and I shared the rib eye for two which is done to perfection and therefore succulent and soft to cut. The waitress brings the steak to your table and then carves it on a trolley beside you into good size slices - and places them on a serving plate for 2. From there one serves to your plate. Had the bernaise sauce which was the only downfall as could not taste 'true bernaise with tarragon' - seemed to be a 'butter sauce'. However ordered the creamed spinach and it was beautiful. Mashed potatoes were good too but spinach not to be missed.
Ordered a bottle of Amisfield Pinot Noir to drink before and with meal and it was 'spot on'. "Yes - wines on menu are expensive - so ensure you know what you are getting. Amsifield Pinot Noir was a good match with our steaks.
Baked Alaska was superb - wished we had ordered two as my husband devoured 2/3rds of it quickly - so lucky I got a taste.
Finished with a good cup coffee and delighted in the superb meal that we had just had - 'the best for our stay in Queenstown"
Highly recommend you visit - but book online to avoid missing out on a table.
