“Great accomodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Great location, not too far from town. Beautiful views of Lake Wakitipu and The Remarkables from the large windows. Heating was excellent - the gas fire heated the room quickly. Excellent service from the staff and the amenities in the room were more than adequate. Wifi was a bit slow/unpredictable but overall an amazing space for a great holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms have great views due to the tiered structure of the buildings.

We stayed here for two nights while visiting the Queenstown area. When we arrived we realized the complex was built on a hill overlooking the lake. There were many stairs, but there was a ramp we used to unload our luggage. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which had a spectacular view of the lake. It was spotlessly clean and had great amenities, like a gas fireplace and a bose dock for our iPod. It had a nicely equipped kitchen, a beautiful dining area and heated floors in the bath.
There is a path that lead to town (or around the lake, if you wish), that is accessed by several fights of stairs. We used this one day and left our car parked, however Queenstown is very hilly and we ended up walking uphill for quite a way. Strenuous, but we enjoyed it.
We wished we could have stayed here longer as it is a wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I can not speak highly enough of Villa Del Lago, the property and the staff. Earlier in the year, our senses had been spoilt indeed in Scandinavia where we stayed in some excellent accommodation, but when we stood for the first time on our Villa Del Lago verandah, we were equally rewarded. The villa itself was spotlessly clean and had all we needed for a very comfortable stay. With some local wine chilling and delicious New Zealand lamb roasting in the kitchen's good size oven, we relaxed in front of the fire and watched the snow falling on Lake Wakatipu and the mountains beyond. My husband enjoyed morning runs along the foreshore and I equally enjoyed the leisurely stroll along the lakeside path that conveniently passed by our villa and led directly to the town centre. We stayed in a villa on the lower level which was very private and enjoyed the soft sounds of the lake. Charlotte, the owner, and Nicola were extremely helpful, particularly with organising excursions. We have no hesitation in recommending Villa Del Lago. We will return!

What an amazing place - we had a one bedroom apartment with lake views! Staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming! The apartment so clean and well appointed. Will recommend to others and will stay there again.

'Stunning' was my wife's verdict. This small well-cared for complex benefits from personal staff attention & great views - many of the other hotels/motels around Queenstown are situated the other side of the road from the lake - villa del lago does not have this problem. The 1 bed apartment was very spacious & well-equipped & we greatly enjoyed our 4 night stay. Being blessed with fine weather certainly added to the experience.
Charlotte the owner was delightful & very helpful.
This is an excellent location just outside the main town. We had no transport but enjoyed walking into Queenstown along the Frankton pathway beside the lake, rather than living with the night-time noise in the town centre. The local bus service is fine for getting to Arrowtown (a must). The Boathouse on the Frankton pathway towards Frankton is a great place for coffee / breakfast.

We spent a week at Villa del Lago in July 2012 and were amazed by the beautiful and clean rooms, breathtaking views, and wonderful customer service. From the moment we stepped out of our cab, we were welcomed outside by the staff by name, and they helped us inside and were quick to explain everything to us including how to use their Wi-Fi, which was great! We were constantly using the wifi to look up new restaurants and things to do, as well as email and sharing photos, and when we ran out of data they happily supplied us with more. Rooms were immaculately clean, beautifully furnished, and a wonderful kitchen we used for cooking, baking, frying, even preparing pasta for 4 from scratch. The lovely walkway below by the lake made for easy access to town, and the views were just spectacular.

Our experience was 11/10, and we are returning to Queenstown later this year, and made the obvious choice of staying at Villa for another week.

Room Tip: All are lovely!!

We received a really friendly welcome from Charlotte who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. She happily spent 15 mins on the phone sorting out a fairly complicated bungee jump order (involving various vouchers), and spent ages with my Dad and aunt sorting out a trip to Doubtful Sound. When we got to the rooms we were wowed - we'd asked for lakeside views and weren't disappointed. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and the big double room my partner's parents took had an astonishing near-180 degree panorama of the lakes and mountains. The rooms are big, modern and well-equipped with a huge flat-screen TV (with Sky Sports) and DVD, excellent kitchen (incl dishwasher), decent bathroom (though I'm never a fan of showers in baths) and comfy king-size bed. The rooms were pretty cold when we arrived but the heaters are really quick to work their magic. There's no restaurant but taxis are plentiful and cheap, or you can walk into along the lakeside (or order a water taxi). The whole place was quiet (it helped that it was out of season) and relaxing. Superb value at $210 for our single room.
