The luges are always good fun, however I find the track is a bit boring and safe.. and it feels like you're done in a matter of minutes. Perhaps there needs to be a more advanced option that's a bit longer?

Took the Gondola up the 500 odd metres to the skyline area. Cost 39 dollars, which is not cheap for a 5 minute ride. Good views at the top and one can try the luge or mountain bike rides, or head off to Ben Lomond.

We originally wanted to make this the highlight of our holiday but soon realised with the pricing and everything apparently (online) booked out opted just for the gondola ride. As a retired couple and on a tight budget we felt it was quite expensive just for the gondola but we have to admit the views are just stunning. Glad we chose Queenstown rather than some of the other places that also offer Gondola rides as this would have been the most spectacular of views of all of them. The luge rides looked fun but when you're budgeting..... Queenstown at the end of the day is a tourist town and we felt aimed mainly at the younger members of our community with all the daredevil boat rides, bungee jumping etc. Still enjoyed our stay though.

This is one of the best highlights of Queenstown. You can buy a gondola / luge ride package for about $63 maximum depending on how many luge rides you want to do. Once you take the gondola up to the observation deck (this is a must also), you enter the Luge entrance, grab a helmet, and then take a sky lift up to the Luge riding area. You must receive training on your first luge ride, where you will get Luge stamped, and go down the beginner track. After this, if you want to go again, you can then ride down either advanced or beginner tracks. Regardless of the technical aspect of this, you get to see the mountainous areas while you are riding down a mountain, which is amazing. You can also practice your Luge skills... don't get stuck around a corner!

Buy the 6 ride package. You won’t regret it. It is so fun.

They teach you on the first ride how to start, stop and steer. It’s not hard at all, but you do need to learn the mechanics of the luge.

You are spread out from others, so you don’t have to worry about getting in others way. They are very well organized and the lines go quickly.

The pictures are the best. They capture the perfect moments during your exhilarating ride down the track. They are pretty funny.

We took the Skyline Gondola up to the restaurant in Queenstown and loved the scenery, service and city lights.

We bought a package gondola, 2 luge rides, restaurant lunch, at a tour booking place in town at the Perigrine chocolate shop. Doing so saved us a few $$ and allowed us to skip the queue. The views are fantastic anywhere you look. The luge was fun for us adults and 7 yr old daughter. I liked how we were given a quick tutorial on how to luge. Food in Queenstown is expensive. I figure with the package, we paid about the same as we would have for a full meal in town. We had lunch and the buffet was delicious.

My girlfriend and I went to try the Luge on a nice and sunny afternoon around 4pm, we booked it online through the skyline website, the view of the lake up the top of the gondola was beautiful!
The activity was very fun and the site was quite busy, but not so much so that it overly effected the experience. The staff were friendly, clear and patient (as not everyone understood how to drive the luge on the first go)
Great for all, friends, couples and families! Everyone will have fun there!
Just a tip: if you can, avoid lunch/dinner time as the restaurant brings a lot a people up in the gondola.

We felt the gondola was expensive, on the way up. But after the view of a lifetime from every angle, and a hilarious turn on the luge, we both agreed it was worth every penny.

It's all too mechanical and out of sympathy with the surrounding majestic scenery. The restaurant is mass catering at altitude and whether its there or in a plane leaves much to be desired. Timed eating is always rather disappointing and when squashed in between a mob of Chinese all after piling their plates high with the shrimp, dinner turned into a scrum. Then, of course, as dinner ends a restaurant full of people wants to get back down as soon as possible. This results in queues of considerable length-we gave up on fighting our fellow diners and left early to avoid the queues. All in all an eminently forgettable experience.
