We visited Skippers Canyon to enjoy a jet boating ride but got a great bonus when we took the ride up there.
A narrow one track road lead us along 100m cliff drops and from the window of the 4x4 bus it looked as if we could tip over any time which of course added to the conversation and tension in the bus.
The jet boat ride took about 30 minutes and was simply great fun. Shooting past relics of the gold rush it gave a good indication of how life must have been about 130 years ago for the buggers trying to fing nuggets in this roaring stream.
This is a trip for anybody, old or young, and it certainly gave us something unique to add to an already stunning visit to New Zealand's south island.
