Easy drive up with sharp turns to the top. Great views of the valley and the mountains. Limited food selection at the cafe.

Probably the busiest peak, and not super high so if you're going early in the season you're likely to be skiing on artificial snow - which quickly turns to ice and sludge. The slopes are also very very crowded as well as the group lessons (which are quite terrible, 100% do not recommend, just a profit churning industry). If you get the 3-peak pass, stick to the Remarkables, they're quite ... remarkable! (Bus takes 10+ mins longer)

Ski lift up for paragliding. View was great. Was not happy with the expensive one way trip on the ski lift. Surely there could be a cheap fare for the paragliders.

As complete newbies to the snow we weren’t really sure what to expect but ended up having a great few days at Coronet Peak and by the end had some basic skills that got us down the green slopes without killing ourselves.

We bought a last minute NZSki First Timer package that included all equipment on the mountain (except BYO gloves and goggles which are not supplied or otherwise pay top dollar to buy there), access to the slopes and ski or snowboard lessons which was a pretty good deal. Everything from getting your Pass to fitout for the equipment was smooth and easy although we were lucky enough to visit when the Peak wasnt super busy and can see that at peak times it could become more challenging. In those times would def recommend perhaps organizing your pass and equipment hire in Queenstown beforehand. Beginner runs can get a bit busy at times but as you progress onto more challenging slopes it gets less crowded. Cafe and bar have basic hot and cold food and drinks at standard tourist prices or BYO if you prefer to save a few dollars, square lockers available for $10 per day but can get booked out on busier days.

We found the biggest challenge was booking transport if you dont have a car like us, given the reduced bus services due to staff shortages on many days the buses are fully booked out. I would recommend booking your transport well in advance and if using NZSki, elect for the hotel pickup if possible which we found was more reliable and convenient if taking all your ski gear.

We drove up the hill, good to have a bitumen road all the way & we managed to get a park close to the terminal building. Hire gear was very average - we both had very sore feet at the end of the day. Less said about the snow the better. Sloppy & wet & left in huge mounds by the snowboarders. Higher up, icy & scary. Do wonder why they don't quickly run a groomer over the lower slopes at lunchtime, as they do in Australia.. Terminal building very crowded . Probably due to the large number of skiers who had decided to call it a day - like ourselves. That being said, the lady at the ticket counter was very helpful & gave us a seniors discount for both lift tickets & gear hire.
