We weren't planning to go up to the peak, but we went on a whim as we passed the road that led up to the viewpoint on our way to Arrowtown. The drive up seemed like it took ages but the view is well worth the windy trip. The clouds that rolled across the land changed the light a lot while we were up there, which was just beautiful. Would probably be even better during winter.
