we booked a private tour with Nicole and it was fantastic. we all had a great time and were able to see some amazing birds, geckos and tuatara up close and personal. my 5 years old nephew and us were all able to touch the tuatara, play with some cute geckos, feed the keas and other birds as well as the ducks and fish and we saw the gorgeous kiwis very close. the park is well looked after and though it is small they have done a great job restoring it from an old town dump and looking after those amazing and endangered birds and co. we have learnt a lot about them and pounamu thanks to liz and we have left with lots of fantastic photos, memories and knowledge and knowing that we had contributed to saving the NZ wildlife not available anywhere else in this world. a highly recommended park and highly recommend the private tour. we loved it!!!!!!!

A chance to see a kiwi and to give support to the wonderful independent work the owners do to help these creatures. It was great to see them feed and be given such an insight into their situation. Very educational and fun at the same time.

A really interesting small wildlife park (built on a reclaimed rubbish tip). We saw kiwi really close up, which was great, and several other interesting native birds close up as well - morepork, kea, NZ pigeon, tui, blue ducks. The park itself is small enough to walk round in less than an hour, though we took longer looking at all the interesting plants and Maori hunting implements. The conservation show was excellent, both entertainingly-presented with a range of live animals and birds, and also very informative about NZ's current efforts to restore some of the devastation caused by the indiscriminate introduction of alien species in the 1800s and 1900s, such as possums and stoats (which also appeared in the show). We'd recommend this to anyone interested in the environment and conservation, and being small-scale it's completely manageable for families with small children etc.

It is impossible to leave New Zealand without seeing a kiwi. The park was really nice and well kept and they do so much good work for conservation. Money well spent!
