“Very interesting”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We were not too sure how good this would be but we were able to get up close to lots of the native species and there was free talk/demonstration included that was well worth watching and great fun. Combine this with the cable car and luge for a really good and varied day out.

Thanks a lot for your great review. We're really pleased that you enjoyed the Park and that you were able to save some money by purchasing a Kiwi Kombo ticket to get up the gondola as well!

“Great Place to see Kiwi Birds and to learn about NZ's wildlife”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This was an impromptu stop for us and we really enjoyed it. It was a fantastic experience to see a Kiwi (I’m a big animal fan). We stayed for the last Kiwi feeding and the keeper told us all about this rare bird (which I found fascinating). The hubby and I really enjoyed the 3:00 P.M conservatory show as well. The keepers are extremely passionate for their jobs and their animals. We “met” a wood pigeon that the Birdlife park was nursing back to health (he’s partially blind). We were exposed to NZ’s Possum problem, and learned that Kiwis are on their own since birth. The coolest thing is that the admissions ticket goes to support the work they do. It made us feel like we were giving something back!

“Kiwi birds up close”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We had a very pleasant walk around this park. the audio kit which comes with the standard ticket is very informative. Although the park is relatively small, the space is well used and gives the impression of being a bigger area. The Kiwi enclosures looked well tended and we saw the birds up close through the glass, and also saw them feeding. The 'conservation show' was well worth sitting in for, and the enthusiasm for this park came through the talk very well. If you want to find a peaceful spot, its easy to do in this park, with seating spread around. Although there are not lots of birds there is a wide variety of birds and the enclosures all looked well tended. The only point to note-and not sure if we picked the wrong day - the cafe options were extremely limited - just a drink and biscuit option - so don't expect to feed the kids here! Overall well worth the visit.

Hi and thanks for your great review. We're glad that you enjoyed our Park. I'm sorry to hear that you weren't able to find a suitable lunch option on the day you were here - we were in the process of revamping our Kiwi Cafe. Next time you come and visit, you will find that we now have an espresso coffee machine as well as a cabinet full of yummy baking, sandwiches and other lunch options. Thanks again for your review and feedback, we are always trying to improve our Park :)

“the place to see kiwis- the birds not the people”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

i loved my visit here- the smell of pine trees, the encosures set in the forest, it was just like seeing the birds in the wild. The kiwis were the obvious highlight, they are so beautiful, and the talk about them was very informative. I also loved the funny lookign ducks, and that all the signs were full of facts to bore the rest of the family with over dinner later that day. I also signed up for their email list and itr always brings a smile to y face seeing the latest updates on their monthly newsletter- often they have really cute pictures of baby animals- its better than youtube.

“Six year old reviews the bird park”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

My brother and I went to the park with our grandparents. We liked the green cheeky birds and the bird that took our money as a trick.
I liked seeing the kea try to take my map and the kiwis get fed. They told us kiwis lay huge eggs and we learnt about what can kill kiwis.
We got good toys in the shop. We loved it..
