Stayed here for a week skiing in August 10' and it was brilliant. The people were lovely and very hospitable, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed for the week including washer/dryer, dishwasher and full kitchen facilities. It's walking distance from town so this is great value for money for those who want to save the $$$ but still want to stay somewhere nice. Definately would stay again!!
The owners of these apartments are very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.
Great location only a short walk to town and the snow centre to catch buses to Coronet Peak and the Remarkables.
The downside to these rooms are the the living area is really small, one room with kitchen facilities on one wall and a sofa, one chair and a coffee table. With 3 young children we wanted to be able to eat in the apartment most nights, however this was difficult as we really had to sit on the floor around the coffee table. Very messy. There was an outdoor table and chairs on the balcony but it was freezing so not really an option.
Well presented, modern apartments with all the facilities needed to make you comfortable. Opposite the Gondola and 3 mins from the heart of town, makes this the best, most comfortable, value for money accommodation we could find. Highly recommended!!
Whistler is quite possibly the best value for money you can find in Queenstown. The apartments are a decent size, with a sizeable deck outside, yes, the road is busy, but the bedrooms are generally on the side of the building away from the road and the traffic is virtually nonexistent from around 7pm onwards anyways.
We stayed for more than a month (I was there on business), and can't recommend it enough, excellent value for money if you're staying a while (about the only thing that'll beat Whistler on price are Hostels with a substantial drop in quality and comforts). These are apartments after all, with everything you could want from an apartment. Practically central, close to Supermarket, lots of parking space, clean, with fantastic management.
During our stay, I saw several rooms, and while they are in the process of renovating the rooms, some of them could've used a new lick of paint etc, but they are fixing the rooms up and have probably done all of them up already by now. There is no competition anywhere central in Queenstown at anything even remotely resembling the price bracket.

My wife and I stayed at the Whistler in July 07 and found both the apartment and Queenstown a fantastic place to be for the snow season so we booked again in 08.
Given we were in Queenstown for the Winter Festival we decided we didn't need anything to $$$$$ as we were going to spend most of our holiday either on the slopes or in town during the evening. Even when we had the odd day off from snowboarding we could easily spend a lazy morning/afternoon in the apartment without feeling too cramped. While the one bed apartment we stayed in isn't massive, it certainly isn't too small. In fact, with a heater switched on and a glass of wine, it felt really cosy.
The resident manager Garry is a top bloke, and makes you feel at home. All the equipment (washing machine, cooker, TV, etc) worked faultlessly and we found the apartment really quiet despite our balcony overlooking the main street out of town.
It's a perfect 2 minute walk into town or to the shuttle bus stop to take you to the mountains with parking spaces also available.
Queenstown is too beautiful to spend your holiday cooped up inside, so The Whistler apartments don't need to be overtly grand or spacious. They are great value for money and clean and I know we'll be staying there again on our next trip to NZ.
