“An Enjoyable Stay”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

As others have said, this is an in town B&B whereby you can walk to restaurants, shopping, boats and the gondola up the mountain for an awesome view. In addition, the facility itself makes for a very comfortable stay. In reasonably good weather, they have a nice courtyard with an outdoor fireplace, a great spot for a bottle of wine. If it is a bit chilly, not to worry as they have a shared den again with a cozy fireplace which we used each evening.

On the one evening when it was raining, our hosts insisted on driving us into town (an easy walk) and also offered to pick us up. It did stop raining and we walked back. They offer a full cook to order breakfast which was quite good.

Our room was comfortably appointed and had a small walk on balcony for getting some fresh air.

Room Tip: I believe all of the rooms are the same

This is a great place. Location is one of the best for a hotel in Queenstown. Only a 5 minute walk to town( very important as cabs are expensive), yet far enough away from the action that it is very quiet. Also being up the hill means you get some stunning views. Gillian and Donald are great hosts and Gillian is quite a talented cook. Her scrambled eggs are some of the best I've had. The rooms are lovely and the beds are very comfortable. Queenstown is one of the most stunning locations in the world and it would hard to find a better place to stay than this.

This was one of our favourite B&B during my honeymoon at New Zealand and we stayed here for 3 nights in Queenstown. The view of mountains from our room was fantastic and the breakfast was wholesome and good. The hosts were friendly and provided maps and tips on what to do/where to go around the area. Really love the Juliet balconies which added to the European feel. We didn't fully use the living area as we were out most of the day, but there were board games, books and a computer available if you need to chill out. The only downside for me was that the toilet bowl in our room didn't seem fully cleaned and I could see "previous brown stains" from a certain angle. Other than that, it was a memorable stay here.

Very cosy and Individual furnished. Beautiful livingroom with fireplace. Superb seating at breakfast with view over Queenstown. Hosts are very much concerned that everybody feels home. Just a Short Walk away from town. Nature or fun sports in the nearby valleys are just a short drive away. Best accommodation we had.

Room Tip: Rooms with view over Queenstown are stunning

Location is close to downtown but a steep walk back to the hotel, which detracts from its appeal a bit. The hotel itself if beautifully decorated in warm, rich colors with an inviting sitting room and breakfast area. Our room (number 10) had a tremendous view of the lake and mountains -- one of the best views I've ever had in a hotel room. Even the bathroom had an incredible view. However it might not be so good if you're tall, as the shower head was at neck level and I'm just average height. Bed was comfy. Free wi-fi is included. Parking is very cramped. Owners were away when we were there -- fill-in managers were brusque when we needed to check out in the morning during breakfast time, which was off-putting. Not like I can control when airline flights leave!

During our 3 day Queenstown visit, we found Don and Gillian to be most hospitable and helpful. Not only is the hotel centrally and conveniently located, but spotless with delicious breakfasts and charming touches with the traveller in mind that all hotels should adopt. Whenever we came home from a day of touring and sightseeing, we were greeted with a relaxing fire in the parlor where we could kick off our shoes and enjoy, from, our own larder, a delightful bottle of New Zealand wine. We will carry fond memories of this part of our trip and wholeheartedly recommend Brown's Boutique hotel.

The Browns Boutique is a home away from home, providing a warm welcoming atmosphere complete with a roaring fire in the living room fireplace, stunning views of snow-capped mountains, and home made cookies. Gillian and Donald help create memories with personal touches at every turn. Their recommendations demonstrate keen knowledge of local opportunities, including great taste in restaurants, shopping, and current community events. A class act in a perfect location, and breakfast is the best.

Room Tip: Book early and request room 10.
