Browns Boutique Hotel
Ranked #7 of 59 Hotels in Queenstown
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 16, 2013

My wife and myself recently stayed at Browns Boutique for 7 days, 2 of our friends also joined us as well. The location is excellent with great views and only a few minutes stroll into Queenstown.
Gillian and Donald were extremely helpful in so many ways.
We had some early morning tours so they arranged early breakfast for us and our friends. By the way the breakfast's are amazing.
We arrived back late from a tour and decided to have a drink before going out to dinner and Gillian organised some Champagne flutes for us so we could relax in the downstairs room.
Donald and Gillian were always cheerful and helpful when we were choosing where to eat with tours and information about and around the area.
This is excellent accommodation with a beautiful personal touch "Simply the Best"

We just returned from a three-week trip in New Zealand's South Island and the Browns Boutique Hotel in Queenstown was our first stop. Gillian and Donald were wonderful hosts and they made us feel right at home. The location is perfect, a short walk to the center of town but far enough away to have a quiet, peaceful time. The rooms are beautiful, with fantastic balcony views of the city, mountains and lake. I will always remember relaxing in bed with a book and having the balcony doors open with a nice breeze, watching sunsets, sunrises and New Year's Eve fireworks all from the comfort of our room.

Breakfast was perfect with delicious cooked items, loose leaf teas and cereals and yogurt. The common area and the back patio, with the shortcut into town through the garden gate were lovely.

But the best part was getting to know Donald and Gillian. We had great chats about Queenstown, all of our world travels, the crazy antics of New Year's Eve revelers and tips about everything we needed to know. It was one of those places that felt like home and it was very difficult to leave. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Queenstown - and we plan to return some day. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we can't wait to come back!

We recently stayed at Browns Boutique Hotel in Queenstown for a couple of nights and it was lovely. Gillian and Donald were fabulous hosts - warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel was easy to find and well located. It is a lovely property with a cozy guest lounge and a large terrace with an amazing view. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, however the decor is rather dated and set up more like a motel than a luxury boutique hotel. That said, it was quiet, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Thanks for a warm stay!

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor, however all rooms would be good with a view.

This is a small, personal hotel with only ten rooms. We were warmly greeted at the start by the owners Gillian and Donald who were most friendly and helpful. The hotel is located very centrally, only about a three minute walk down to the city centre - but still away from most noise. The hotel room was lovely, clean and quite spacious for the three of us with beautiful sheets and a lovely bathroom. The view extended over the city and lake with beautiful sunsets from our balcony. Breakfast was served daily with a good range of healthy and filling dishes, lovingly prepared by Gillian and graciously served by Donald. There was also a lovely courtyard setting where you could enjoy breakfast on warmer days. In summary a great little hotel to stay, beautifully appointed, with personal touches from the hosts.

All other recent reviewers have more than adequately done justice to this charming home from home in Queenstown.
My Wife & I stayed at Brown's before and after our hike on the Milford Track & Gillian & Donald could not have done anything more to make our stay more comfortable, including looking after our large number of bags as well as our valuables whilst we were away hiking.
The walk into town is just a few minutes & the location is ideal for getting to & from Ultimate Hikes before and after our Milford experience.
Highly recommended from highly satisfied clients!

We spent three nights at Browns before and after a tramp on the Routeburn track, and we couldn't have asked for a better hotel or more welcoming hosts. Gillian and Donald are friendly and helpful - with excellent restaurant recommendations - and the location close to town is brilliant. The breakfasts are superb, the setting is about as far from a bland corporate hotel as you can get, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. You'll need a booking during peak times, for good reason, and we have no hesitation in recommending Browns for a thoroughly relaxing stay. We'll certainly be back there in the future.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, with small north-facing balconies overlooking the private hotel courtyard.

We arrived at Browns after staying at another Queenstown Hotel. The owners gave us a warm welcome on arrival. They also accommodated our special request for a board to be put under the bed to make it firmer to help with a back problem. The room was spacious and overlooked a small courtyard and the town. We found it to be very quiet at night and got a good night's sleep.

The breakfast is great! Well presented and tasty. We also met other guests at breakfast and exchanged stories of Queenstown activities. This is a great small hotel in Queenstown, there is a personal touch to the service and rooms are of good quality. Look them up if you are in town, but you will need to book in advance especially at peak times.
