Brown's is excactly what a boutique hotel should be. It has a great atmosphere especially with the lovely fire in the lounge - so nice to "come home to " after a walk up the hill from the restaurant. Our room was well appointed with a wonderful view over the town and lake. Breakfast was excellent with a daily special each morning. Above all, Donald and Gillian were natural hosts.

Room Tip: It would appear that all rooms have a Lake view

We've just arrived home having spent 5 great day's in Queenstown staying at Browns Boutique Hotel. I can highly recommend the this hotel, with the proprietors, Donald and Gillian both being warm and welcoming with nothing ever being too much trouble. We utilised the communal lounge on a number of occasions and were happily provided with glasses, plates, etc. to enjoy a pre-dinner snack or an evening of wine & cheese in front of the cosy fire. The morning breakfasts were something I looked forward too and got me fuelled for the slopes. The room was comfortable and warm and we both took a liking to the daily fresh cookies provided each morning. It was great being close to the centre of town, but far enough away not to be disturbed by the late night party goers. We didn't find the uphill walk a hassle - though my ski knees might have been telling me otherwise :-). Overall, it was an enjoyable stay & I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming place to stay in Queenstown.

We stayed here earlier this week on a week's winter break in Queenstown. The hotel (with 10 rooms) is nicely located just above the main part of town within a very easy walk of everything you need. Our room was on the second floor and had fabulous views of the lake, the Remarkables and glimpses of Coronet Peak. The bed was large and comfortable, and it was very quiet at all times of the day. Central heating was effective and kept us warm and comfortable. Bathroom was large though the design could have been better with the shower (which was somewhat crowded with all of the taps, trays, rails etc) leaking onto the floor - extra bath mats were laid in preparation by housekeeping. Fluffy towels were in abundance. There was very little bench space around the sink with no drawers or cupboards provided in the bathroom which was a bit diappointing. The shower is an over the bath version. The bath however was nice and long and bath salts were provided. Also there was very little hanging or drawer space in the main room - though there were hooks provided for coats, hats and scarves. Hairdryer was good and powerful and iron and board were both provided in the room.

Breakfast was fabulous - on offer was a continental followed by various hot options with a special of the day which was always very interesting. Gillian is a whiz in the kitchen. Donald was very helpful with information about the local area and booked our restaurant for us each day.

At the time of our visit we were the oldest guests, with the majority being late 20 or early 30's. Everyone chatted over breakfast and helped to provide each other with suggestions for activities and restaurants. A wonderful aspect of staying in this type of accommodation.

As we are not skiers, our activities included a pleasant cruise on the Earnslaw steam boat - an interesting day out; ride on the Shotover jet boat in the gorge; bus trip to Coronet peak with buses being caught at The Station - only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. As we had a hire car we drove to Arrowtown (our favourite) as well as a number of the wineries and a drive to Cardrona.

Fabulous lunch at Amisfield winery (book in advance) dinner at Rata (again book in advance) Bella Cucina (pizza and pasta).

Wonderful stay - highly recommend this hotel for all ages - you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor offer great views. We booked late last year and received a sizeable d...

We recently spent a week at Browns Boutique Hotel and loved every minute. We arrived to be greeted by Gillian who gave us a tour of the hotel. Our room was clean and large and we had milk, cookies and a selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in our room on arrival. The balcony had the most amazing view of Queenstown.
Breakfast was superb, with a range of cereals, home-made muesli, yoghurt and fruit and then 4 hot options plus a special each day. We tried something different each day and were surprised each time. Absolutely delicious and kept us going for a day on the slopes.
The hotel has a nice feel to it, with a place to relax in front of the fire in the communal lounge room.
Heating was very good throughout the entire hotel and our room.
Great location. It is only a short walk into town. It's a bit of a hill on the way back to the hotel, but this didn't bother us. Parking was also easy, if there was no room on the property there was always space on the street.
Gillian and Donald were eager to help us when we had questions and were happy to call to make bookings for activities and restaurants. They made our time in Queenstown extra special.

Browns is a first class hotel. The quality of cleanliness is superb. As frequent travellers, we could not fault the place. The room was big as were the beds. Quality, is the best word to describe the hotel. Gillian and Donald know what travelling is all about. They are not in your face, but will help you out if you need anything. Again, it is the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel that we were impressed with...so credit to all the awesome staff who take pride in their work. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful. PS. The location is great.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor, but doubt if you could go wrong on a lower level.

This property is a little bit unique in a great way. You feel like part of the family from the moment you arrive

Hotel rooms are spacious and clean with everything you need. Can stay in your room with chairs, tv and desk and fridge. Rooms even have a small balcony.

In addition there is a shared lounge that you can use with a brillent fireplace. Breakfast is wonderful and provided in a family style dining room. A great opportunity to catch up with other guests.

A short few minutes walk to the main street.

Stay here you will not be disappointed, much superior to the bigger hotel chains.

The welcoming hosts compliment this great property

Having travelled to Queenstown for many years my most recent 4 night stay at Browns Boutique Hotel has been one of the more enjoyable stays. Gillian and Donald were the perfect hosts, without even seeming to try. Ideally located, only a few minute stroll to the centre of Queenstown and along with amazing views, makes this gorgeous little hotel a perfect choice. As a solo traveller I particularly enjoyed the beautifully prepared breakfasts in the dining room with the other guests, and reading my book accompanied by a glass of wine in the sunny courtyard during the afternoons, moving in to the sitting room by the fire when the sun started to set. Cosy, serene, relaxing...Browns Boutique Hotel is a must to experience.

Room Tip: All rooms have little balconies and beautiful views.
