“What a pity the road is so terrible”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

We drove to the top (base of the ski slopes) of the Remarkables in January (mid Summer) so skiing was out of the question. We were hoping for a pleasant drive and some spectacular views. The views were spectacular and the road was spectacularly unpleasant.

The road is only 13 Km. and I don’t know how else to describe it other than ‘rough as guts’.
It could be such a pleasant and rewarding Summer drive instead of the hellhole that it is.
Come on Kiwis, you can do better than this.

Hi Lexus51
Yes the road can be very rough is summer. We only maintain the road during the winter as we are a winter only operation. You can be assured that the road is in much better condition for the ski season.
Thanks,

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

the beauty of Queenstown - is that so much is so close to town.
a short but trip & only $5 each from town ski centre for a great day trip - while on the mountain - coffee - soup (or you could take your own snacks.) we didnt even ski - just played in the snow... it was to bad to even to the tubes - but we all had fun day out.

“never been skiing there but the dh track is average”

the dh track is reasonably flat and boring, depending on skill level. quite short but easy to shuttle on

“Looks amazing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

We saw this beautiful area in January and it was heavily laden with ice and just gorgeous. Loved it. Well worth a look even if you do not ski . Went on a bus trip with a glass roof so highly recommend that too
