We went here because it was recommended by a local hairdresser. We spent the day at this beautifully kept and located town. The historic aspect is well documented around the town but not over the top. It is nestled within the mountain range and the Arrow river and there are peaceful gentle walkways to follow along its twists and turns. The centre of the town is interesting as the shops are in the period style of the gold mining period. There is a great mix of stores and eateries to cater fir all tastes. The whole town and The out lying homes are beautifully kept and gave amazing Gardens. The whole place is simply delightful.

The Arrow River is lovely, and you can wander down to it after looking around Arrowtown shops. Will need to go back and explore it further!

We tackled this river in a speed boat and what a ride......wet and cold, but very exciting and thrilling

main river into Queenstown you can go on some nice walks in the summer months (not sure what it is like in the winter)

Great place to walk near the river and take pictures but don't go if you want to find any gold. You will hardly find any gold in the river these days, still we saw some families spending lot of time, trying to find it. Great town near by with nice snacks and ice cream parlor. Can visit the town if you have spare time

There is a track to walk alongside the river. I enjoyed seeing the beautifully clean water and the quietness after a day in Queenstown. On the track, locals walk their dogs. You can also admire the locals that walk the track wearing little rugby shorts in winter (!)

Traveled here with my mum in July, the weather was crisp but still enjoyable. A nice area to walk around enjoying the stunning views. Also the air seems so fresh and clean here.

Visited Monday 7th May. We parked down by the River and after having a look around the Village and Chinese Settlement we made our way back to the carpark along the River side walkway.

To be honest, there wasn't much to do besides walking, panning for gold and wondering how someone got there 4WD bogged in the river (see pics for more details).

This may be better in summer however when we went in July, the walk was underwhelming. There wasn't much scenary and the river bank was full of rubbish.
