We thoroughly enjoyed this charming hotel, which is perfectly situated just above town. The breakfast was excellent, the room was well equipped and very comfortable, and the staff (thanks Mat & Elsbeth) was superb.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Queenstown as it's an outstanding location, but the real surprise was how lucky we were to choose The Dairy Private Luxury Hotel.

It lived up to its name in every way. Elspeth and Matt were the most gracious hosts, who went out of their way to ensure our holiday was very special - booking tours, restaurants and advising us on things to do.

Our son, 8 years old, felt very welcome as well. He especially loved the pancakes for breakfast every day.

Every amenity has been considered at The Dairy and the quiet location was an added bonus. It's good to be just a couple of streets away from the main action of the town, so you don't get the noise of the town, but you're close enough to stroll to everything. Plus it's only a short stroll up the hill to the gondola.

We would return to The Dairy without hesitation.

Would we come here again? Most definitely. "Orphaned" by the blizzard that hit the NE US, we lost our reservation at another very nice B&B which kindly found us a room here. Lovely room with nice views and amenities, including a nicely stocked "honors" bar in the lounge and terrific artwork on the walls. Very good breakfast with French press coffee. A welcoming, friendly staff! Would we recommend this place? A resounding YES!

I booked a standard room at The Dairy Hotel for a recent last-minute trip to Queenstown. I traveled with my 4-month-old son, and I could not have been happier with my choice. When I have traveled to Queenstown in the past with my family of young children, we have always rented a house. This was my first time staying at a hotel in town.

The outstanding feature of this hotel is its welcoming intimacy and service. The owner, Elspeth, is a fantastic host. She really took care of us during our short trip, helping to park my car when I arrived, holding my son as needed, and generally looking after us. It's worth a stay at The Dairy just to experience her baking! The first afternoon I arrived just in time for afternoon and enjoyed the best freshly baked scones and sticky date pudding I have ever had.

For those looking for a view of the lake, you make want to go elsewhere. The view from my room was down into town, with only limited views of the mountains. My room was somewhat small but beautifully decorated and very clean. Whatever they use to clean the rooms has a lovely fresh odor. The general location of the hotel is great, just up a street from Shotover Street and a few hundred meters from the Skyline Gondola. It's not even a 5-minute walk into town.

The Dairy Hotel really represents the best that a boutique hotel can be. I cannot say enough good things about it.

Great location within easy walking distance of the gondola and the town. The hotel has great character and you are immediately made to feel at home by the very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast can be prepared to suit your departure time if leaving early, the afternoon teas are a treat, and honesty bar (declare what you drink) is a great idea. We would defintely recommend staying here to anyone who wants a reasonably priced accomodation, and high quality of service and comfort in a great location.

Friendly service on arrival and throughout our stay.
Very clean room & bathroom, comfy bed & pillows (rooms cleaned daily)
Excellent location to the city centre, and only a few minutes walk to some very nice restaurant options (French, Italian, Thai, Japanese and many more).
Loved the breakfast menu and the afternoon teas all included in the cost.
The sitting room was very charming & cosy with an open fire, soft music playing and an 'honesty bar' for guests to use.
A 'bowel of fresh fruit' available for guests to enjoy was a nice touch.
Bikes & bike helmets are available for guests to use (its free).
