“Lovely Boutique Accommodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

We just returned from 4 nights at the Dairy & Queenstown which we just loved. The hotel is centrally located & you can walk to everything! We had booked a couple tours during our stay where we had to get up early, hotel owners Matt & Paul were very accomodating & arranged for us to have breakfast early, delcious home cooked plus selections and a range of fruits/museli/yoghurt etc to choose from. We found the hotel to be very friendly and we also got chatting to other guests which was great for other 'tourist' must dos & restaurant suggestions etc. The room was spacious and it has a very comfy bed, i dont think there would be a preffered room number they all looked great. The jacuzzi was a relaxing wind down in the afternoons & we looked forward to coming back to a cup of tea & some afternoon treats!! We absolutely loved Queenstown & we would definately return to the Dairy. We stayed at the Hilton our last night to be close to the airport but at $50 per taxi ride or $10 pp each way water taxi that only goes in the arvo into town the dairy is where I would suggest you stay in central queenstown as the airport is easy to get to from anywhere, unlike other cities & the personal experience of the Dairy in my opinion is more enjoyable than the large chain hotels. We look forward to returning soon!

Having spent 31/2 weeks in New Zealand on Holiday and staying in 9 different Lodges, Hotels, and Cottages throughout both the north and south islands I would have to say that all of our accommodations were very good and very comfortable, however there were many things about the Dairy that stuck in our minds as being exceptional. First of all the warm and outstanding greeting we received the moment we arrived by both Paul and Matt, made it feel the most like home of any place we stayed, the knowledge of everything to do in the area, the helpfulness with all the crazy questions we had, the breakfast prepared and served by them, the Honesty bar, and of course the room were all over the top. That along with the perfect location and in our opinion the best area in N.Z. to vacation with lots of very exciting things to do and many good places to eat, make it the best. Don't miss this one! At the risk of repeating what has already been said many times, I cannot recommend The Dairy highly enough. From the sumptuous afternoon tea, to the lovely selection of wines on the Honesty Bar, super comfortable rooms through to breakfast, it all adds up to a wonderful experience. We stayed in many places during our recent tour of NZ and all were good or excellent but The Dairy takes it up to another level. Matt and Paul are so hardworking and are always miraculously on hand when you need them. Try the Eggs Benedict for breakfast - my husband is something of a connoisseur and they are the best he's had. Enough said - you just have to try it for yourself! And we will definitely be returning if we get the chance.

Room Tip: The one with the balcony looked nice if you want to sit out

Quality exudes at the dairy and we can't fault the service, breakfast and afternoon tea which is to die for. The hosts are charming, attentive and caring. All in all a wonderful place to stay. Bertie and Jane

Room Tip: Would probably choose room on first floor as our room was very warm with no air con, but a fan.

The Dairy was the first place we stayed in New Zealand and while we stayed in some great places we compared everything to The Dairy and nothing exceeded it. The owners Matt and Paul went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were always ready to assist with any questions we had or advise we needed. The best was volunteering to call a restaurant I had reserved to make sure we were seated at the best table. The large breakfasts were freshly prepared and offered an excellent choice. The location is perfect close to things but far enough away to be quiet.
Highly recommend

Our stay at The Dairy was our final destination before leaving for home so the memory is lasting. The Dairy is a charming and beautifully appointed hotel. Matt and Paul, the managers, are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Their recommendations for activities and restaurants are informative and excellent. The breakfasts, prepared by Matt and served by Paul, are delicious. All this plus a central location that is walking distance to the town center! Everything about The Dairy is first class. We highly recommend it.

This is a somewhat belated review (we stayed at The Dairy in October 2012) but perhaps benefits from the passage of time as the memories of our visit remain vivid and very happy. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Paul and Matt, who worked tirelessly to ensure the comfort of all guests. I wish them continued success with their delightful hotel.
