Queenstown House is up the hill from the central business district of Queenstown. We liked the location because we were a bit out of the hubbub but within a maybe five minute walk of it. It’s a pretty steep walk down and back up but that was fine for us.
In Queenstown there are so many people working here from other countries that it was especially pleasant to meet the Kiwi staff and owner. There is afternoon wine and snacks and it’s a time to meet other guests while sitting on the outside patio. There are several breakfast choices and they’ll gladly make adjustments based on preferences or dietary requirements. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable and the wifi reliable.
We stayed here for two nights, before and after our Milford and Routeburn Tracks. Our luggage was stored for us and in our room upon our return.

Overall, this is a great choice in Queenstown!

We had two fantastic nights in Queenstown House. We were welcomed with drinks & nibbles which was so good after a long day!
Louise spent time talking to us and advising on the local restaurants etc. she is a wonderful hostess who obviously spends a lot of time making sure everything is perfect for her guests.
We were upgraded to a suite which was brilliant. So much room to spread out. If we had been organised we could have cooked a three course meal & washed up using the dishwasher! There was also a washing machine & tumble drier, so useful after two weeks on the road & two more to follow. The bed was very comfortable, & cosy with the electric blankets!!
The breakfasts were fantastic too , everything was on the menu! Would love to return.

Really enjoyed staying at this special B & B. Very welcoming staff with a wonderful hostess. Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfasts on both mornings, kindly made breakfast earlier for us on the morning of our trip to Milford Sound. Really enjoyed the cocktail hour meeting other quests, Louise made us all feel very welcome.
Highly recommended.

As soon as we arrived at Queenstown House, Rebecca made us welcome and comfortable. Our room was a nice size, very clean, the bed extremely comfortable. I slept great while there. There were a few options for breakfast, and the two I tried were delicious. One morning we headed out extremely early, and Rebecca bagged up some croissants for us to take. We mostly missed the wine and appetizers in the evenings; but walking through one evening, it looked like everyone was having a great time mingling. Louise made the rounds during breakfast each morning and in the evenings, chatting with the guests. We were made to feel very welcome. The only downside is the steep hill to climb coming out of Queenstown, but it is a short walk.

Room Tip: We had the Earl's Room which faces a side street, but the neighborhood is so quiet that traffic noise was not a problem.

Queenstown house is located on a hill offering superb views of the lake. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, advising on where to eat and things to do nearby (we were advised to go to Fishbone and this didn't disappoint - as the name suggests - excellent choice for seafood). Free nibbles and drinks are offered of an evening. This provided a great opportunity to converse with other travellers and the owner on local tips, travel stories and everything else, whilst sampling some tasty morsels and local wines. As we were leaving early the following day to trek the milford track a packed breakfast and lunch was packed for us which we stupidly left in our fridge however nonetheless was greatly appreciated (we were kicking ourselves as we are our crackers and tuna instead). The rooms are pleasant and bathroom spacious (we were provided a free upgrade as it was our honeymoon, which was a lovely surprise :) Short 2 min walk into the town (those hills are good after a big meal). We would definitely stay here should we travel to Queenstown again and would recommend for others to stay here.
