I stayed here for a week in late January 2014 in a lakeview king room on level 4 after reading the many positive reviews on Trip Advisor. I was delighted with my choice. My room and bathroom were very clean and spacious and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The linen and towels were excellent quality. The views across the lake to the Remarkable Mountains and the botanic gardens were just spectacular. The hotel staff were consistently polite, efficient and helpful. The concierge at the tour booking desk is very helpful but if you book at one of the many booking offices in town you won't incurr the 1.5% credit card fee for the same tours..
The buffet breakfast is very good with a wide variety of food choices although the "hot" food in the baine marie can be a bit luke warm.
Wi-fi internet is free if you take up IHG membership (also free to join).
I loved the convenient location of the hotel. It is on a quiet edge of town just across from the Queenstown wharf precinct with many good restaurants, cafes and a small casino. The TSS Earnslaw coal ship and the Real Journeys tour office are also located at the wharf making it easy to meet up for day tours It only takes 5 minutes to walk into the centre of town for other eateries, shops and boat tours.
You can get from the airport to the hotel by taxi or coach transport but it is also cheap ($NZ8) and easy to travel on the local bus service to the hotel, You can buy a ticket inside the airport terminal near the exit door or on the bus itself. It is only a 30 metre walk to the bus stop from the terminal. The bus travels via Frankton and O'Connells Mall (central Queenstown) then drops off at various hotels along the lake esplanade. For the Crowne Plaza you get off just across the road outside the Real Journeys office. When travelling back to the airport you can catch a bus from the stop at the front door. Read the bus times at on the sign. Too easy and only takes about 15-20 minutes.

Room Tip: Get a front room on Level 4 or 5 for amazing views of the lake and mountains.

Stayed 3 nights here-staff were welcoming and efficient. Room with king bed was very comfortable with a lovely view of the harbour. Best thing about the hotel is it's location-you can walk to everything - this is especially nice when your traveling on a motorcycle and don't want to get back on after a long days ride. Would stay here again. Cheers!

This hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Queenstown right across the street from the lake and within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and parks. I got a good room rate from Kayak.com on a 3-night stay in a courtyard-view room. While the reasonable rate did not include the spectacular view of the lake (not unexpected), the room was large and clean with comfy bed and wonderful pillows, nicely updated bathroom, and spacious patio for morning tea and a breath of fresh air. Their free wifi for one hour per day was similar to other hotels I experienced in NZ. Their front desk staff was very helpful in booking a very timely airport shuttle. This hotel was exceptional for the rate, so for the budget-conscious it might be worth searching for an online deal.

We have stayed here several times once when it was the Park Royal years ago and then just recently in feb 2014. The hotel is located across the street from the lake in the center of town,so easy walk to restaurants ,beach and tours. The restaurant serves a full wonderful breakfast with everything you could want or need . The two things to think about are: our connecting door was unlocked and so was the connecting door to the room next door so you could just walk between them. Since we were traveling alone and did not know thw people next door this could have ended badly. We requested the doors be locked and that happened immediately. The next issue is that the elevator ends at level 6 and there are rooms on level 7. This means walking up a flight of stairs with luggage or having the bellman do it for you. The plus to this is that if you have a court yard view room and you can see over the building in front and also get a lake view. I don't recommend the restautrant food for dinner. It was ok,but many more chaeper better restaurant are available. The staff was very helpful. The last thing ,if you use a credit card they charge a 1 1/2 % fee which no one else had done anywhere else in New Zealand.

First appearance is that it is like a typical Spanish holiday hotel, but it is much more. Most of the rooms have great views over the lake and towards the distant mountains. The breakfast is great and the staff are all very friendly. One of the best, (if not the best), in Queenstown.

Room Tip: To get the best views try to get a room on the 5th floor, and definitely avoid the first floor, as v...

From friendly, smiley greetings, to overly helpful, can't do enough for you, staff. This is one of the best hotels I've stayed at. The location is just perfect and our room was facing the lake which was awesome. Thanks to everyone for being so lovely, kind and making our stay there just wonderful. I'll be back sometime soon!

Room Tip: Get a front room room if possible it's so worth it!
