Stayed 2 nights (room 510) great view over the lake across to the remarkables. Located a short walk from many of the attractions, restaurants, bars and cafes. The property is in good shape, its bar is nice. Checkin and out was a breeze.

Room Tip: Ask for Lake facing rooms

Wonderful room on the 5th floor with excellent view of the Lake, Boats and Mountains. We had a balcony just perfect for having a wine on while enjoying the view and watching the cafe life below. The location is perfect for walking into town, just cross the road and you are there. Tip: Get a room in the 5th floor with a view of the Lake. DO NOT dine in the restaruant onsite..YUCK!!!

Room Tip: Get one on the 5th floor with a balcony.

We loved our stay at the Crowne Plaza! We had a lake view room and it was a great view of the lake while still being right next to all the shops and restaurants in Queenstown. We found it to be the perfect location. The rooms were nice and updated. There is no gym on site, but if you do all the activities around Queenstown available, I'm not sure it's necessary. They did have a laundry facility, which was a nice bonus because we traveled for 2 weeks. The service was great -- front desk and conceirge both were very helpful. They even provided us an outlet converter when we found the one we brought would not work. They helped us when we needed to reach our tour company for Milford Sound as well. Great accommodations, great location, great stay.

Room Tip: Not sure of the other rooms, but for the view, I'd recommend lake view.

Lovely view over the lake, very close to town. Rooms were Ok, beds a good size. Property looking a little tired now but overall a reasonable stay. Breakfast was fine. Had one meal in the restaurant and it was Ok, but you have a huge choice on your doorstep. A convenience store next door. All in all a reasonable stay.

We were offered to upgrade to a lake view for a small fee and it was absolutely worth it. Fantastic views of the water and mountains and worth every dime. We sat out on the balcony each night enjoying a bottle of wine, some bread from Fergbakery and cheese. The hotel is just a couple blocks from the city center and more than met our needs. Would definitely stay here again. The staff was very nice and even helped us book an earlier flight when we needed to.

Note to tall people, the sinks are oddly low shower head would be a challenge for anyone over about 6’2”.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the Lake View - since it was 'shoulder season' they only charged us half the usua...

WOW!!
We had a top floor room with un-interrupted views of the lake and mountains. For a first trip to Queenstown which ours was, we couldn't of asked anything better. The room was large, fresh, modern decor with everything you need. Good location to the town and wharf. Check in was easy and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Would definately recommend this place.

Room Tip: Definately ask for a lake view room it's worth it.

We have just moved on after 5 nights at this hotel. We had the only suite in the hotel which is situated on the 6th floor with superb views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain Range. Our last visit was around 6/7 years ago when the hotel was called the Park Royal. The refurbishment to convert it to a Crowne Plaza is very good. The public areas have clearly had a lot of money spent on them. The suite is now well furnished. The only drawback is that you still have to climb into a bath to take a shower and have a damp shower curtain making contact with you. Never a great experience. In our experience there were 2 places in the hotel that are in need of some attention. On our first evening, staying in the only suite and being a Platinum Member of Priority Club rewards, we were turned away from the restaurant at 19:00 as they couldn't cope with any more 'walk in' diners. The restaurant was far from full. Not only was it an unacceptable response but was delivered without any apology or explanation. We had room service instead, which comes from the same kitchen and created more work for the waiting staff. On 2 days we were in the room when housekeeping serviced the room. At no time was the room cleaner before 14:00. On one day it took them 5 minutes and one day it took 6 minutes. In most hotel chains there is a standard or around 30/40 minutes to service a 2 room suite. We do not believe the bed was changed at all in our 5 nights. The Hotel Manager informs me it was changed twice during our stay. I find that hard to believe but if it was changed the new bed linen was not pressed or ironed and strangely, had the same wrinkles in the same places from previous nights. On one day the drinking glasses were not washed up at all and on one night the dirty glasses were just inverted and put onto paper coasters in the cupboard. The coaster ripped from the stickiness when we removed it. At no time was the room vacuumed and some crumbs which were on the floor when we arrived were still there when we left. There appears to be no process to follow up on housekeeping room servicing so staff get away without doing a thorough cleaning job. Every evening a lady appeared at around 18:00 with 2 small bottles of water and 2 chocolates. Only on the last morning did I discover that she was meant to do a turndown service in the room. We did that ourselves for 4 of the 5 nights. With some tougher management and the introduction and monitoring of service standards this hotel has a lot going for it. At the moment, in our experience, it is letting itself down badly.

Room Tip: Try to get a lake facing room on one of the higher floors, If you go too low you won't be able t...

Dear Mr Kelham,

Thank you for meeting with me in person on the day of your departure. As discussed I am terribly disappointed that your experience of our hotel wasn't of the high standard it usually is. We have had a lengthy management meeting and discussed the points you have mentioned and put some new things in place.

The best way for us to deal with any issues in a timely manner is if front desk are notified. As your concerns were posted on the global Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Facebook page, which isn't managed by the hotel, there was a delay in the hotel being notified which is disappointing because we were not able to have the opportunity to speak with you earlier. We will be following up with relevant social media teams to make sure that in the future all hotel concerns can be dealt with effectively and efficiently.

I am certainly not making any excuses but truly wish we would have been able to rectify any shortcomings at the beginning of your stay.

I am pleased that you enjoyed the spectacular views from the hotel suite and found the hotel to be refurbished to a high standard following your previous visit.

We have all read your blog with great interest and I am pleased your arrival and stay at the InterContinental Wellington is pleasant.

Once again thank you for your comments, I can assure you that we have taken the necessary steps to address your feedback.

Best regards,

Reinier Eulink
