“Fantastic accommodation & hosts”
Reviewed February 22, 2010

Unfortunately we were only there 2 nights, but during that time were made to feel completely at home in all senses of the word. Tish & Murray are superb hosts and provide excellent accommodation and ambience. First class made to order breakfasts and lots of nice "extras ". Must try to return for longer stay !

Evergreen was one of the highlights of our trip. The Lodge is really beautiful and Tish and Murray are wonderful hosts. The kitchen was generously and thoughtfully stocked with all sorts of goodies in case you felt tempted day and night and Tish cooked up a huge and delicious breakfast. The views are just breathtaking and you are only a short taxi ride from town. We would highly, highly recommend Evergreen to anyone wanting high end comfort.

I do not to create something new, just read what I did email these two wonderful hosts right after our departure on January 1st 2010 whwn I got access to the web again:

Dear Tish and Murray,

first of all a happy new year to the two of you. We, Magdalena and I have a strong desire to express our deepest thanks for your warm hospitality that made the two nights in your lodge an unforgettable stay at your home. I say this as I mean it as strait from walking through your entrance-door one is made feel at home. A stay where “all inclusive” in an exclusive tastefully styled surrounding becomes reality without any hassle as in many other places. This is unique selling proposition at its best.

I’ll tell all my friends:”If at New-Zealand evergreen-lodge is a must”. We deeply regret that our travel plan did not allow us to stay longer. All the best to a splendid future!

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Dr. Hans-Joachim Krumholz & Magdalena E. Konrad

My husband and i stayed for a week, and would happily have stayed longer. By the time we left we felt well and truly at home. We were delighted to find local wines and beers freely available, chosen to satisfy our tastes. The house was warm when the weather wasn't and i appreciated that the heater was turned on to warm the room for us if we were out to dinner. Murray and Tish were particularly helpful as we planned our activities in and around Queenstown and the South Island, and were very familiar with local attractions, roads, restaurants etc. The breakfasts were delicious, it was easy to wash and dry clothes, the suites were well equipped and the house was peaceful. We had a memorable holiday and look forward to returning.

The final three days of our month-long visit to NZ were spent at the Evergreen Lodge and it couldn't have been more perfect -- relaxing, a stunning view, host and hostess who are helpful but let you have the space you want, and the food and wine were delicious! Highly recommend this peaceful, well-located, beautiful lodge.

This place is gorgeous. The people had been so nice and helpful that you really felt like a very welcome guest and part of the family. The house is devided into two sections: a part for guests and the private section. So the landlady said in the beginning of our stay "You can eat and drink whatever you find" - and there was always offered a nice bottle of wine on the dining table and fruit plates on the kitchen counter. We had a huge bedroom, an enourmous bathroom and a breathtaking view throught the huge window directly onto the lake. It was quiet, the bed was huge, we had TV and a good selection of DVDs and also the possibility to use the sauna on the floor.
It is a little bit outside of Queenstown, but you can walk to Queenstown in 20 Minutes on a path along the lake.

The highlight of our 12 day trip to the Southern Alps was our 3 night stay at Evergreen Lodge. Trish and Murray turned out to be our idea of excellent hosts and to keep a most comfortable and pleasant lodge. We would stay there again if ever in the area and recommend it to our friends.
