My husband and i stayed for a week, and would happily have stayed longer. By the time we left we felt well and truly at home. We were delighted to find local wines and beers freely available, chosen to satisfy our tastes. The house was warm when the weather wasn't and i appreciated that the heater was turned on to warm the room for us if we were out to dinner. Murray and Tish were particularly helpful as we planned our activities in and around Queenstown and the South Island, and were very familiar with local attractions, roads, restaurants etc. The breakfasts were delicious, it was easy to wash and dry clothes, the suites were well equipped and the house was peaceful. We had a memorable holiday and look forward to returning.

The final three days of our month-long visit to NZ were spent at the Evergreen Lodge and it couldn't have been more perfect -- relaxing, a stunning view, host and hostess who are helpful but let you have the space you want, and the food and wine were delicious! Highly recommend this peaceful, well-located, beautiful lodge.

This place is gorgeous. The people had been so nice and helpful that you really felt like a very welcome guest and part of the family. The house is devided into two sections: a part for guests and the private section. So the landlady said in the beginning of our stay "You can eat and drink whatever you find" - and there was always offered a nice bottle of wine on the dining table and fruit plates on the kitchen counter. We had a huge bedroom, an enourmous bathroom and a breathtaking view throught the huge window directly onto the lake. It was quiet, the bed was huge, we had TV and a good selection of DVDs and also the possibility to use the sauna on the floor.
It is a little bit outside of Queenstown, but you can walk to Queenstown in 20 Minutes on a path along the lake.

The highlight of our 12 day trip to the Southern Alps was our 3 night stay at Evergreen Lodge. Trish and Murray turned out to be our idea of excellent hosts and to keep a most comfortable and pleasant lodge. We would stay there again if ever in the area and recommend it to our friends.

Evergreen lodge is superb & the best bed & breakfast we stayed at in South Island.
The host were charming & generous.
The rooms or rather suites were luxurious & with everything anyone would reasonably want.
Wine was offered to guests before they went out to dinner & tea or coffee was always available with lovely homemade cakes & cookies.
The hosts would book trips for us & phone to book restaurants.
We were thouroughly spoilt & would have loved to stay longer just for the sheer luxury.
We really do recommend this lodge very highly.

Tish and Murray are fantastic hosts - warm, generous and so considerate - you immediately felt part of the family. The property is beautifully furnished & has wonderful views over the lake. The ground floor suite is superb. Everything is there - small gym, sauna, fantasic lounge & Tish's great breakfast. It would be impossible to fault. We have stayed in many 5* properties around the world & rate this property as one of the best.we have ever enjoyed. Its a must - if you are visiting New Zealand's South Island, try the best & you will have a reference point for others, who claim far more yet deliver far less. Thanks!!
Local restaurants can be very good - Murray can advise - they both have great taste.
