Stayed here for 4 nights in July 2007. This was a very nice and comfortable hotel. Richard the manager as well as all of the desk staff and concierge were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are above average, nothing extravagent but very comfortable. There was a mixup with our reservation and Richard went above and beyond to get everything fixed. The hotel itself is in a very good location. You can walk to town and back and it is not a far hike (except for the hill coming back), probably 5-10 minutes depending on where you are going. The breakfast buffet was also very good . We had a lake view room but the view was somewhat obstructed because of the way the room was constructed but nevertheless it is highly reccomended you have a view of the lake and remarkables, well worth the extra money. Our first room we had before being moved faced a concrete wall so I would say the extra money is a good investment.

4 night stay. Lakeview room was worth the money. Beds were perfect. Bathroom was perfect. Utilized the laundry and the spa. Laundry soap dispenser wasn't working and they sent someone immediately. Utilized the concierge several times for dinners and jet boat tours. They were great. We even stayed an extra night. Highly reccomended. Note: Very close to downtown, but you have to walk up a large hill to get home. They need a golfcart service! :)

After traveling from Tahiti to Queenstown (hated our Sofitel hotel in Tahiti), we were finally happy to be relaxed and enjoying everything we expected it to be! Queenstown is truly BEAUTIFUL, the people are so helpful and nice to tourists and our hotel, the Mercure Grand St. Moritz was even better! We had looked at it online and read reviews on Trip Advisors and everyone seemed to be pretty happy with there stay and had given it rave reviews. But we were somehow a little reserved until we actually checked in - the lobby is very upscale, I felt like I was in a very chic boutique/luxury hotel, like the ones you can find in Aspen. There was a fireplace, everything looked pretty trendy and chic and the staff was extremely friendly to welcome us into our stay. The hotel is about a 20 minute ride from the airport (we rented a car) and the hotel did provide us with garage for our car. The valet gladly parked it for us. The rooms were like one bedroom apartments, they were very spacious, they had a living room area, dining room area, kitchen with washer/dryer, microwave, stove, microwave, huge bathroom and awesome beds. If you want a view of the mountains, it's a must, we did not have one, but I recommend you request one if you can. It is breathtaking. We had a view of someone's villa - and it was one awesome villa, so it was quite a view that we didn't mind. The only thing I noticed is the steep hill (we are pretty young so for us it was no problem to hike it up and down all the time on the nights into town) but for the elderly it might be a bit of a problem. They should be in good shape to climb it, otherwise, you will get out of breathe. Otherwise, you can walk from the hotel and you are literally 5 minutes into town. And the town is amazing, there is everything you can imagine, shops, dining, touring companies, it's just full of excitement and fun things to do. One thing i recommend is if you can rent a car and go to St. Franz Glacier, it was unbelievable to climb it. Once ina lifetime must do for tourists if you are in good physical condition. Another tour we took advantage of and had lots of fun at doing was the LUGE! It's a ride up on a hill on the Skyline Gondola. Definitely do the Gondola ride up the hill, and the luge, but don't spend your money on the restaurant - it's just a waste of your money. The food is not spectacular and they just hike of the price because of the view. If you want the view, just walk into the restaurant, which they let you do gladly, you can take some pictures without having to actually eat inside the restaurant. Queenstown is truly amazing. The scenery is just magnificent and this hotel is fabulous. I always travel with a group of friends who always want to stay in luxury and 5 class hotels wherever we go (it's just a bad habit that we have) and we were very pleased with the St. Moritz! We would definitely go back again - also the staff gave us free vouchers for breakfast for one morning and the breakfast is great! This is a hotel for people of all ages, and i would recommend it in a heartbeat!

We booked a 3 night getaway to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary. We wanted something cozy & special and we pretty much got that. The staff were very friendly & helpful, helped guests with their luggage & answered any questions we had in a polite & helpful manner. The bedrooms were large, the decor neutral with wood furniture. The bathroom had a nice size bath. I would have loved some complimentary bubble bath but the soap wasn't too bad - nice smell. Lots of fluffy white towels etc.The TV had a sky movie channel & a few other local ones (not Sky). We enjoyed the communal spa & sauna. We had a pizza & salad in the restaurant. It was absolutely delicious. Our room (421) had a lake view (over properties in front which you don't see when you lie in bed). Spectacular. The rooms facing the hill I would not recommend as they face into the concrete wall. That was for me the only down side of this place - who ever designed it needs to be shot! The little hill wasn't a problem at all - about a 3 min walk or 6 if you take it really slow. All in all I recommend this if you want a special place that isn't too expensive. Just make sure you have a lake or side room.
