Adequate room with view of lake (through parking lot). Reasonably good location. Nice property; could be very good. However, we received inaccurate information three times: regarding internet service (they have it in the lobby), complementary breakfasts (were not told about them until the last day) and laundry (was told that only dry cleaning was available). We also had a waiter in the restaurant for dinner who was sniffling and coughing. When we requested another waiter, they easily changed, but we couldn't believe they would keep a sick staff member at work serving food. With a little management and training, again, this could be a good place. It was more inconvenient than it needed to be due to miscommunications.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view on the second floor or above.

d walk from rydges to downtown queenstown was as pleasant as a stroll in the park as it is accompanied with the remarkables range on one side with the wakatipu lake and the hotel on the other. a mere 5 minutes and you are there. by the waters edge are beautiful trees to shelter you against the hot sun as well as act as shade when watching the tss earnslaw passes by either day or night. the hotel provides a 24 hr laundry facility for us travellers whom have tight travelling schedules to wash and renew wearing every now and then.the view was marvellous with a simple cute balcony for a ship and snapshot stay watching the wakatipu lake and the remarkablpes range. me and my wife were very happy with the food selection for breakfast. simple but wholesome.the view from where we ate was also magnificient with large picture windows.we would certainly give this hotel a thumbs up and would certainly recommend friends and colleagues to stay here whenever they visit queenstown....... you really are at the top of the "rydge".....

We booked the deluxe lakeview room....$177 p/n. room was tired but the bed was comfy.bathroom was dirty when we arrived...gotta look behond the door guys!
View was good but the hotel isn't in control of that!
Had to pay for brekky on top of the room.forget that, better options for less in town.
Concierge did not explain, or offer, about the need to book for dinner at the gondola restraunt ( a 3 hour wait was the outcome), just gave us a map and sent us on our way.......just felt that we could have done a LOT better for our dough.

Room Tip: rooms from 6th -10th level are a bit of a hike.

Not what you'd expect from a Rydges Hotel; very tired, and poorly maintained. This hotel will disappoint if you book off the web site and expect a clean and new hotel; the specials advertised will put you in old rooms, with bathrooms from the 70's. Room configurations are inflexible, and don't expect two "double beds" in a room, despite what the site will tell you. It'll be two single beds pushed together, and it's obvious that the room size would never allow it.

Staff were unbothered, and not familiar with the location or local attractions.

I would not stay here again and there are plenty of hotels nearby that are cheaper, cleaner and more friendly.

Room Tip: Lake view is a bit of a joke. Don't pay the premium, it will be a view across the carpark and th...

Stayed on 10th floor in double room with lake view. Our package included breakfast. Hotel is a short but picturesque walk to town centre. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very substantial and set us up for the whole day. Bus stop right outside. We thought Rydges was great value. Would definitely recommend it for all ages. Very comfortable. Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer.

Room Tip: If your are on 10th floor, ask for uneven number room as these have stunning lake views.

We loved the location and the setting of the hotel. HOwever, the room that we book was close to poor I wouldnt say terrible. Our room was old and can hear loud noises at night from the other room probably because of the room was constructed by wood partition and ceiling slab instead of concreted. It was certainly the older wing or side of the hotel as they have renovated or newly built a new wing. We asked for a new room from the email and booking website but we were given old room. Bathroom smell of strong bleach and everything seems like a portable bathroom unit. The room was clean but was very very old with cracked ceiling and color faded carpet. Enjoyed their lounge with live band and great glass of their house wine was worth the money. Beautiful location and lake front view if you could afford the front row of rooms next to their reception. Good walking distance to town centre with plentiful of restaurants and cafe and pubs. Forgot to mention we received a honeymoon greeting card from the hotel thought it was a small surprise and appreciated their courtesy. Overall was great except for the old and tired room.

Room Tip: Ask for new constructed room at their new wing not the old.

We stayed one night having completed a 27 hour journey into NZ. Rydges was sufficient if rather uninspiring. The double beds were a bit 'snug' but are probably regular Queen dimensions. Still, $190 for 3 in a lake view room in pricey Q'town is not a bad deal. The hotel's a 10 minute stroll to the downtown which means it's quiet and fairly easy to park nearby.

Overall, the 3.5 average it has gained perfectly reflects the product. We'd happily stay there again for a night or two but would look elsewhere if looking for a longer stay.
