“Excellent Service”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We organised a conference at Rydges Lakeland Resort and found that the staff, service and hotel was 5 class. The conference ran extremely well and at all events and the food was excellent.
We always use Rydges Hotels for our Conferences but the Lakeland has been the best of all. New Zealander are beautiful as ever and always so so happy to help. The Hotel does need a face lift. The rooms were very clean all the time, but they were out dated. Please put a gym in the hotel as well.
The views from my room, breakfast and dinner were amazing. Best in Queenstown

Room Tip: The front of the hotel has the best views

We had a fabulous time at Rydges, the staff were absolutely fabulous and went out of their way to accommodate us. They were helpful and very knowledgable about the area. The room was just what we ordered and were extremely happy with it. One particular staff member stood out more as she went right out of her way to make conversation and look after us. Well done Rydges

Room Tip: Room was beside pool and spa area and quiet at night-we also had a view of Wanaka lake as we stepped...

WE stayed for three days in first week of Oct.2012. Location is good and rooms are facing lake.
Rooms are well heated and maintained. Market and other attractions localy are in walking distance. Added advantage for Indians is avilabilty of Indian restaurents near by ,all in walking distance. We strongly recmonds stay in this hotel whic is reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Higher floors-lake facing

OK, the Rydges Lakeland Resort has been there on the shore of Wakatipu since the year dot and I'd be the first to say that some of the facility is starting to look a bit dated. But when you can stay within crawling distance of everything Queenstown centre has to offer with some simply awesome deal rates it is hard to beat! Our room had a wonderful view over the lake from the room/balcony and the king size bed was simply gorgeous. The bathroom has stayed resolutely in the 1970's, but everything worked - so it's managing better than some places we've stayed in Queenstown! The inclusive deal on the straightforward buffet breakfast and late check-out was a great touch. We had a wonderful, lazy long weekend at the Rydges and wouldn't hesitate to grab the same deal again.

Room Tip: Floors 6 and up require using 2 lifts - but the lakeview rooms on floor 9 gave a pretty spectacular...

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a ski holiday we took in late July 2011. The room was reasonable for the both of us. We would of preferred a higher floor as we were staying for 8 nights, however we were only designated the first floor.

On the second night, the fire alarm went off at midnight, with no explanation as to why it went off. There was also no direction as to whether we needed to evacuate or whether to just stay in our rooms - which was quite frustrating as we were unsure what to do.

The location is a little out of the main part, so if you are ok for a 5 min walk, then it's fine. There was a ski bus that comes to pick us up at the hotel which was better than walking into the heart of queenstown each day.

We used the spa and sauna facilities which was lovely. Also dined one night in their restaurant which was ok.

Overall a good place to stay if you are ok to walk 5 mins to town.

This place is in need of more than a facelift.I would gutter the inside & start al over. A lot of potential but the rooms are disappointing.great views of the lakes and mountains situated just down the road from a magnificent vibrant township.

The room was clean and tidy but it needed a paint and some bathroom repairs. There was a lot of noise the night we stayed and the slamming doors of other rooms was a little annoying BUT not half as annoying as the rooms not having WIFI! We stayed a variety of hotels large and small family run places on our holiday around Queenstown and Wanaka and RYDGES was the only hotel not to offer any WIFI services! Gutting when you travel with your young family and use an ipad each night to plan and to book your next activities and accommodation. For me to get internet i would have had to leave my room (I couldn't as my kids sent to bed at 7pm) and go to the bar to get WIFI. Take a step into the 2010's RYDGES...the lack of WIFI is enough for me to say i wont be returning!

Also when we booked in, we had two large suitcases. the receptionist pointed to the corridor where our room was - it had a bunch of stairs so we took the lift right next door to the stairs - sadly the tiny lifts do not do to the wing where our room was - so we had to return to the bottom and find our OWN person to help lift the bags down the long corridor to our room - Poor service we felt. Not a good start Rydges.

Stunning location and better service when we left as I phoned for a porter to help with all our bags!
