“Couldn't ask for a better family holiday!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

We got a lot more than we expected when we booked at the Heritage family rooms, not only were the rooms huge!! The beds were so comfortable, we had a washing machine and dryer and we had a place to cook our breakfast, a DVD player and huge TV which made our stay with the Heritage Queenstown our best stay in Queenstown yet and we have been visiting most years for the past 6 years. Thanks for a great time and we will definitely be back to stay again. The Eaton Family.

Just returned from a great trip to Queenstown. Booked the hotel through my secret room on last minute.com.au
Pleasantly surprised. Great room. Comfortable bed. Wonderful friendly staff. Good distance from the centre of Queenstown...... about a 10 minute walk or 2 minute bus ride.
Only had breakfast once in the hotel which was typical of a good hotel breakfast and ate the rest of our meals in town. The hotel lobby was very cosy with a fire burning and comfortable sofas to sit on and enjoy a glass of wine.
Parking on the hotel premises can be a bit of an issue but there is a parking lot across the road. The ski equipment drying room is a nice bonus.
I would definitely stay at the Heritage again.

This is our second stay at the Heritage Queenstown and once again we were delighted with our stay.
We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment, that was clean, warm and very comfortable.
The apartment is stocked with great kitchen amenities, if you choose to cook.
Our apartment was quiet, peaceful and had the most amazing views.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.
We will return again.

We stayed for 6 nights here as we had plenty of activities in Queenstown. The room we got looked like a fairly newly renovated room, it was a lakeside view with a balcony. We had a big TV, very clean and well appointed room, with probably the comfiest bed I have ever slept on in my life!

We got room service the first night, and was definitely not value for money. Skip if you decide to stay here! Steak was good, but the chicken was not. About $90 all up and not worth the wait, or the money. There's so many good places to eat in Qtown, that you shouldn't bother with eating here.

The view was incredible, room was great, ski gear storage was great too, and the staff were pretty helpful and friendly, especially after my girlfriend locked me out on the balcony in -3C and had to call for maintenance to come and let me in.

Would stay again!

I really wanted to give this hotel a great review and I'm actually frustrated that I can't! Our trip started off wonderfully, our room was big and well appointed, the staff at check in were friendly but from there it all went downhill.

We booked a 2 bedroom lake view suite as did our friends who were travelling with us but we both ended up with completely different rooms. One had a door in between two single rooms and the other was an actual 2 bedroom apartment style with a bigger lounge and kitchen. It didn't really matter but it's good to check if you really want one style or the other.

The problems started with our first night when we ordered room service. It was an absolute embarrassment of a meal, if we hadn't been so tired and hungry after an awfully long flight we would have sent it back. You would have got a better meal at the local fast food joint. I can't understand why a chef would have even let that meal leave his/her kitchen. For example the "pancho crumbed chicken with salad" was actually horribly deep fried, flavourless chicken served with cheap shoestring fries with the tiniest little cup of salad I have ever seen covered in sloppy dressing. It was literally two mouthfuls. The burger that we had asked for the mayo on the side came lathered with thick mayo inside it and was just awful. Every time we saw someone with room service being delivered or outside their room afterwards we would joke about the poor sucker inside that room who had ordered it.

We ate twice in the restaurant (kids were too tired to leave the resort after a long day on the ski field and the promise of the open fireplace was irresistible) and both nights they got our meals wrong to the point that they didn't charge us for some or gave us a bottle of wine (either forgetting to put through the meal to the kitchen, putting pepper on a meal I asked for no pepper on, really long waits, bringing out one entree that we had asked for as a side and holding everyone else's meals despite us making it very clear that it was a side and to all come out at once etc.). The staff were lovely to deal with both nights but we just couldn't understand why so many things went wrong. The restaurant food was ok, much better than the room service but then again that isn't really a good benchmark.....I couldn't work out why they couldn't serve the same quality meal to the rooms that they did to the restaurant.

Then there were the other little things, not being able to park the car after a day skiing (so frustrating, what can you do with the car if everywhere is full?), all of our keys not allowing us into the building on 4 nights out of our 7 night stay despite us leaving them in the car away from all other phones etc. (meaning one of us had to walk through the cold to reception to get new keys each night), the lady at the front desk who doesn't speak great english who when I asked her for driving directions to a ski field she gave me a trail map, it taking an hour to get bath stuff that housekeeping forgot to replenish which is just a nightmare when you have a tired kid to bath, housekeeping not emptying the dishwasher despite us stacking it and starting it before we left each morning and the dropped chip that we saw in the lift day after day until someone finally cleaned it up.

Oh and then there was the wedding reception that led to so much music and noise including what seemed like a fight in the hallway outside our room.

Don't get me wrong, the hotel was lovely (I read the reviews about some rooms not being well appointed but ours was really spacious and well decorated), the staff are really nice (especially Margs in the restaurant and Sebastien the Duty Manager that had to listen to us complain and were so nice about all the dramas I feel bad even writing this) but there were just so many small things that went wrong that we spent the week alternating between scratching our heads in wonder, desperately trying not to kick doors down in frustration and laughing at the ridiculousness of it all.

Would I recommend it? No, not for a ski trip. The need for decent room service after a day of skiing is just too important. When it gets to the point that you all go and buy Fergburgers (the best burgers ever btw!) to take back to the hotel to eat in the bar area as you don't want to risk the hotel food you really have to question where you're staying. The frustrating part is that it could be so good if all these little things were improved.

So stay if you wish but be prepared for either amusement, frustration or confusion! Hope this was helpful.

Room Tip: The lake view rooms are lovely but in winter if you ski you leave when it's dark and come home w...

Our family of 4 just stayed at the Heritage for one night in preparation for an early flight. Very comfortbale beds and wonderfully quiet. The free drink was a great touch. Although it did not bother us, you need to do a short drive into town especially when it's cold and wet.

We chose the Heritage hotel for our family reunion as it provided a good range of hotel facilities and a mixture of rooms. Some of the family had suites in the Lakeside wing, which allowed groups to gather in the larger rooms, and others had rooms in the Waterfall wing. The rooms were generous size, very clean and well equipped. The views from the rooms were amazing with the lake and snowy mountains. Different family members enjoyed the spa, sauna and gym.
The restaurant meals were great, and the well priced deserts were especially good.
The location of the hotel is about 15 minutes walk into town which was manageable for most of our group.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a suite if you are a family or want a bit more space. Also select a room with a view.
