“A short walk to town downhill.”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

This hotel was very nicely presented and very spacious rooms with huge bed. After being in New Zealand for a few days and a bag of dirty laundry, the hotels laundry was useful to say the least. Very reasonably priced too at $2 NZ a wash and the same for a dryer.
The staff were very friendly and the restaurant offered a lovely meal with the chefs on view cooking your meal. Had breakfast here too which was not a huge big buffet style but certainly adequate.
Although this hotel is a short walk from town it is set on a hill but they do offer vouchers for a free bus ride back from town. We didn't actually use the bus and endured the climb which wasn't anything too strenuous.
Plenty of things to do and see around Queenstown as you would expect with some gorgeous views.
Visited the bird sanctuary just so as we could say we saw a kiwi but found this one of the most expensive places to visit of our trip as far as value for money went. We did see a kiwi but mainly on a tv screen and in dark night light lit rooms. Other animals were not of great quantity. A nice place but as I say maybe over priced.

Room Tip: We had a room with a view from a balcony if you went out and looked to the left. Not overly importan...

Stayed here for a night in the deluxe room. Lots of space and clean and tidy. It is an older hotel but they have kept it up to date. Great service. Free bus returns to town. Nice pool and spa. We got a grabone deal for $140 with a free drink. Not sure if I would pay full price ($225). The buffet breakfast was awesome.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are spacious

This "Boutique" hotel is split into three sections. We had a room in the Forest Wing, which I would heartily recommend despite the fact that you have to venture outside in order to visit the main part of the Hotel. Our room had superb lake and mountain views and made a most comfortable base for exploring the local area. It is a gentle walk to (and slightly more energetic walk back from) the town and there is a free bus service if you don't want to walk. Queenstown is lively and full of attractions and opportunities. Our bathroom was spotless and well equipped and the room itself was clean and reasonably spacious - although the furniture had seen better days. The pool was refreshing and welcome and we even enjoyed poolside bar service. I was impressed that when I asked for local fizz for two the waiter brought two glasses drawn form the one bottle - many places I have stayed in would have opened two bottles when asked for that order. The staff were friendly and obliging and we enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant. We have given this a rare five star rating not because it was the best standard we encountered but because overall it offered an excellent experience. We do recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a lake view.

Having stayed here before which was pleasant booked one night as part of honeymoon. Hotel carpark did not appear busy however put in a room on 3rd floor at very end of waterfall block which is essentially right beside road. View of the bank of trees out back of hotel. No air-con so was unbearable, had to sleep with windows plus balcony doors open hence the noise from hideous road outside. Reception staff were lovely at check in. On check out when I explained that the room was unbearably hot was told we could have got a fan from reception. Bit late for that! Were glad we only stayed the one night. Ask to NOT be put in the waterfall block that faces the hill.!!

Room Tip: Ask to NOT be put in the waterfall block that faces the hill.!!

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at Heritage Queenstown. Please accept my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I was most concerned to learn of the problems you experienced during your stay, particularly with regard to the room you were allocated and the consequent noise disturbance. I am pleased to hear that the front desk staff were pleasant on arrival though I do apologise for any lack of immediate follow up on your voicing your concern on departure.

Once again, thank you for your feedback I do hope that we have an opportunity to welcome you back in the near future. This will allow us an opportunity to show you the level of service that we pride ourselves on and one would expect from Heritage Queenstown.

Just back from a few nights at the Heritage. Its a little away from the main Queenstown street however they do have shuttle buses and its only a 10/15 min walk. Great hotel. Pool and gym area is brill! Very clean. Rooms were lovely - nice room service menu. It suited my budget as a solo traveller. Underground carparking. Missed the breakfasts there as nicer walking down to the town. Was in one of the rooms in the back - so quiet. Will defo come back and stay again. Queenstown is a great spot but bring your cheque book!!

Room Tip: apparently the lake view rooms are the best and of course the most expensive. If your a solo travell...

We stayed for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon tour around the South Island. Our room was spacious, nicely decorated and had a wonderful view of the lake and mountains. It was very hot weather while we were there and the room did get rather warm - not sure the air conditioning was used to the heat. The breakfast was very good value. The pool was nice. The hotel is well located and a pleasant walk into Queenstwon centre whilst still being peaceful.

Stayed at the Heritage for 2 nights after reading reviews and was not disappointed. Originally booked a Forest View room but took advice and upgraded to a Lake View room which was much larger and brighter and had a small balcony. The bed was huge! Staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool was great on the hot days we were there, even used the gym which although on the small side was perfectly adequate for a quick work out. We used the free bus once to go into the town centre but quite enjoyed the walk which really only took about 20 minutes along the lakeside. Would definately go back to the Heritage again.

Room Tip: Definately upgrade to a Lakeside room, well worth the extra
