“Beautiful view from the right room- but not much else”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014

We had four nights in this hotel. The view from our room was lovely on the fourth floor and our room also had a balcony (most don't). However the hotel itself was not so amazing. We arrived in the evening after an exhausting drive to find that no parking was available. So we unloaded our bags from our car onto a hotel trolley (not a porter in sight) and carted it up to our room ourselves and parked a few hundred metres away. Our room inside was basic, tidy and clean but the balcony was quite filthy with bird poo. The hotel restaurant was ok - we ordered steak and vegetables but only had a bread and butter knife, and when we asked the waiter if we could have a steak knife, we were informed that our knives were steak knives! The main attraction of this hotel is the location (very short walk to centre of Queenstown) and the views from the lakefront rooms. If you are not planning on spending much time in the hotel, then it is quite fine.

My daughter and I have just arrived home after spending 5 nights at the Copthorne Hotel Lakefront . Whilst we were extremely happy with the Copthorne ( my second stay ) our experience turned rather unpleasant when I discovered upon packing to leave, that my Sony Playstation Vita had been removed from my suitcase ( always in a locked room ) sometime during the last days of our stay. The Duty Manager was most apologetic to my plight as I completed an incident report, however I was upset that such an incident would occur at the Hotel. Unfortunately I have also now been advised that my travel insurance claim excess is even more than the cost of replacing the item . I look forward to a response from Hotel management to my lodged incident report. If this incident had not have occurred we would have rated the Hotel as very good.

We have a lakefront view on the forth floor. King pillow top bed. Unbelievable views. Truly breathtaking and surreal! This is our third stay here. The first one was crap. Really dreadful room, a few days later we came back and requested something better which the staff obliged us with and gave us an amazing ground floor room overlooking the gardens, but the room we have this time is 5 stars. Best room I've ever stayed in. The meals are always delightful and the staff are wonderful and friendly. Very very happy here!

Room Tip: Ask for a king size lakefront view room. Not on the ground floor

Copthorne hotels located in Queenstown has a good location.
Its lake facing , 10 mins walk from main center , amongst the first ones from the entry points,

The hotel has no air conditioning.. Which is a common fact for most of the hotels in Queenstown..what u have is a table fan and can get more on request especially for the afternoons

Food wise its good enough.
The courteous hotel staff helps you plan locate book and adventure activity u wish for in this land of adventure sports.

I do recommend for the stay and also use its parking facility.

The room was ok, nothing amazing. Clean but tired. The food was overpriced for what it was and the restaurant itself is in need of a bit of a make over. Great location though! No parking when we were there, which meant bringing large cases up from a couple of streets over. Probably wouldn't stay here again as I feel you'd get better value from a motel.

Thanks for your comments we appreciate your feed back. We are about to go through an upgrade of the Restaurant . We generally have plenty of parking available but at this time of year it is at a premium and unfortunately we dont have enough for all 240 rooms, please accept my apologies for this. Thanks again for your time and comments.

This was supposed to be a four star hotel. Ok so we had a lake view: through some tall pine trees towards the golf course at the back of the hotel. To access the room we had to go down a long corridor to a separate lift which was creaking with age as the hotel is split level in different wings. The room was comfortable but the food was pretty average. We had to pay extra for wifi, parking, and credit card or foreign debit card suffered surcharges. Frankly the motels are better.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review, we appreciate the time and effort, the hotel is set out on a large footprint that allows easy access to the gardens and grounds and we appreciate that it can be a little confusing to get to the rooms.
