This was our third stay. Property remains good value, but be aware of the rooms close to the road which are very noisey. We were booked into a suite on the ground floor, right on the street. Truck and car noise was very bad. We moved rooms the following day with no problems to a suite at the back of the hotel on the 2nd floor. Room service was no existent. Placed order, waited an hour and called, told food was on way, 15 minutes later still no food. Manager called and said order had not been placed and offered to send replacement meal. Cancelled order. On checking out found meal on our bill.
Would stay at property again due to value and proximity to town center.

We had a 1 Bedroom suite with a kitchen (including dishwasher and oven) and laundry facilities. The living room was very big with huge windows and a nice view of the mountains. The bathroom (shower and bath) was very clean as well as spacious. Nevertheless we got a very good price for this comfortable apartment.

On the other hand was our apartment just next to the main road and accordingly a bit noisy. Furthermore, it was not very warm in our room in the evenings as there is only one heater in the living room.

By the time we got to Queenstown, we were not happy with the standard of accommodation elsewhere, and therefore didn't build our hopes up. Well, we were pleasantly surprised with the Scenic Circle. The room we had was more like a 1 bedroom apartment, which had a great fully self-contained kitchen and also laundry facilities. It was a very spacious and comfortably luxurious apartment. Very central location too! This place was the best value for our money in NZ.
Can highly recommend it. 5 stars!

We wanted a little more space than a hotel offers for our NZ ski trip so we settled on a Scenic Circle Aurum 1-bedroom suite. The accommodation was selected as part of a package.

The suite had adequate space which is not something you always get on holiday. There was a well-equipped kitchen, a dining and lounge space. The bedroom was separate from the open-plan living area. The internal heating was also more than adequate. Everything was clean and in good condition.

Reception were friendly and helpful, even assisting us in booking last minute excursions. We didn't eat at any of the inhouse facilities as we made use of our own room facilities.

The ski / drying room was outside the main reception, so you needed to make sure you had footwear to move from one to the other. It had plenty of space and all our gear was crisp and dry when we picked it up the next morning. All guests are issued with an individual lockable space.

The one thing that bugged me a little was the mini-hike (maybe 100 - 150m) up the hill to the coach pick-up. This is a tad uncomfortable in ski boots, so be prepared. The property is also a few hundred metres up the hill from the town (about 10 mins), but I quite enjoyed the brisk walk. This does, however, give it the benefit of being a little quieter.

There is plenty to do in the town itself (2 casinos / movies / pubs aplenty / shopping). Aside from 5 days of skiing, the thing we enjoyed most (albeit extremely pricey) is the helicopter-snowmobile excursion we did. We flew to a plateau at the back of the Remarkables by helicopter and then spent a couple of hours on a guided snowmobile trip before being flown back. We will talk about that for years to come!

This was our second week-long ski trip to NZ and after staying in different accommodation last time, we would definitely stay here again.

The Scenic Acurum is a fine hotel with a wonderful view of the Remarkables. The reception is very efficient and friendly, and free parking in the underground garage. The complex is very close to downtown, but not in the thick of things. Very nice location.

Our irritations are the little things. If the going rate is $350 or so a night, why do they have to be cheap with the dishwasher soap? You have to go downstairs to the reception to get individual packets. We stay at self-contained apartments all the time, and this is the first time they haven’t trusted us with a bottle of $3 soap.

Another thing was that it’s advertised as a full kitchen, but we only got a ½ size refrigerator that was ½ filled itself with the mini-bar stuff. There is a full size closet right next to the fridge, so a normal fridge could have easily been put in.

The biggest irritation was probably the loud door closing of our neighbors. The apartments are laid out in groups of two, with 1 main door leading to the 2 separate apartments. For example, one door is labeled room 1 and 3, you open it to a little vestibule, and then you open the door for either 1 or 3. The doors and locks are heavy, which is good for security, but they’re also loud. When the neighbor enters or leaves, he opens up 2 heavy doors with locks that click very loudly. I’d think small felt cushions would go a long way to making the doors nearly silent.

Overall, it was a fine place, but to really earn more than 3 stars in my book, it’s the little things that matter.

We, (2 adults, 3 teenage kids) originally booked this via a ski package. It was a complete delight, in the first instance, and, to a lesser extent, in the second. My fault, though. I need to tell the front of house that none of us are in wheel chairs - even if my skiing indicates that. If you are completely mobile after a day on the slopes with a cruel instructer, then avoid the modified, disabled apartments.
We love the location and views and have not found street noise to be a problem. I am always happy to cook, so a well equipped kitchen is appreciated. Bear in mind, though, that one should always bring favourite knives and a citrus zester! We have always self catered at breakfast and split evening meals over each weeks' stay with restaurants.
Being Australian, a laundry is an absolute necessity, and the washer and drier provided more than meet the challenge of the teenagers.
Queenstown is absolutely outstanding for a family holiday - the kids are too tired to fight - and we head off soon for our third stay at the Aurum. Why would we stay anywhere else?
