Scenic Suites Queenstown

The rooms in the scenic suites befit those of a conventional four-star hotel, I was very impressed. And although our room appeared to have a restricted view, we still got a wonderful view of the gondola and part of lake wakatipu. The only downside was the breakfast, it was poor, which didn't bother us much as Queenstown's incredible anyway, but if I had to be picky, I would pick on the breakfast!
In spite of this, the hotel is good value for money and I would happily return there.

The room was very large, modern and clean. The kitchen had ample supply of cutlery, plates and utensils. It was great having the washer and dryer in the kitchen area. Fanatastic large LCD TV. Good undercover parking which was handy since it snowed overnight. A bit of a maze to get to hotel room from undercovered parking and from reception. Proximity to town was great - about 5 mins uphill walk.
Room rates were on the pricey side condsidering our suite had no view - except of other suites. Because it was part of a large complex it seemed to lack the attention to detail and personal touches that smaller motels have. We didn't appreciate having to pay for a small amount of washing up detergent - though detergent was supplied for the dishwasher, but sometimes you have just a couple of small items to wash up and it seems a waste to put a dishwasher on for those. Cleanliness was okay on the surface, but if you looked around the washing machine area there was a build up of dust.
I would recommend this hotel - but don't expect the personal touches.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights, our longest stay in New Zealand. It''s a good hotel with sufficient space to park a car. The hotel upon arrival quickly checked us in and even sent help to get our luggage to the room. The room's decent, has sufficient cutlery, cups, refrigerator, LCD TV etc. They cleaned the room every day and the advantage if you drive from Christchurch is this is right in the main road. One night, we even tried the hotel pasta it was nice, tasty and quick service. The only downside is the walk back from Queenstown center is quite an uphill climb. Be prepared for that. Otherwise the hotel staff are very helpful, will guide to the right location etc.

This is one place that deserves a five star. We stayed here 2 nights in September 09, and enjoyed it. Location was pretty good - if you take the bus from Queenstown airport, get off at Millenium hotel, and this place is about 2 minutes walk from there. In fact pretty much right outside this motel is the bus stop. Its on top of a reasonably steep hill, about 5 min walk to town centre. The place was immaculate - the one bedroom apartment we had (room 9219) was at the corner, second floor, and had a really nice layout. About 60-70 square metres I recon, which is very spacious for 2 people. Everything looks clean and new. Other reviews mentioned dish washer and washing machines...and it also has a pretty functional kitchen with most utensils needed for a simple meal.

The bed was super comfy and I think its super king. They even have a pillow menu. The bathroom is big, modern, and the shower was really good with plenty of hot water and good pressure. I was quite impressed with the toiletry provided - they are of the "earth organics" brand, quality stuff.

The only slightly negative comments (which is really not a big deal) is that the staff seems to be rather strict about the check in/out time. We arrived at 12, was told to come back at 2 (though they stored our luggage); then when we were to leave, we asked whether there could be an extension from 10am to 11am and was firmly told "no". It's off peak season and it is very clear that the motel is not full, so it seems there is no real reason behind the refusal. Anyway, despite this I still think the place is worth it.

We stayed at this hotel for several days in January and absolutely loved it. We had a one bedroom suite (essentially an apartment) that was bigger than our flat in London. These suites are in the newest part of the hotel – I think they are entirely separate buildings as you will only go through the lobby to check in and out. To be honest the rest of the hotel didn’t look that great to us but the suites/apartments were amazing. They are very modern, nicely decorated and furnished in neutral colours. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and even included a dishwasher. It’s the only place I’ve ever stayed and thought that you could live there quite easily. It also has parking space underground and is very well located only a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Highly recommended.
