We were delighted to have a room with a view on the third floor. The room was spacious, with generous facilities. Sometimes you see photos of Hotel rooms only to be disappointed when you actually see the room, here it was the reverse, the photo didn't do the room justice. We felt safe had great room service and will stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask if a room with a view is available? They can only say no.

I stayed at the Scenic Suites for five nights as part of my travels through New Zealand. After backpacking and staying in hostels, the Scenic Suites was like a palace. But even if I hadn't been staying in hostels previously, the place was quite nice.

I had a one bedroom suite which was surprisingly large. The kitchen was good sized with all the dishes you would need for cooking, plus a dishwasher. The washer/dryer were a bit small, but got the job done. Also, had electric tea pot, great selection of teas/coffee/hot chocolate, oven/stove and microwave. I used all these things during my stay which made making meals and entertaining friends so much more easier.

The furnishings were relatively plain and not real high end, but very comfortable and all in good condition. The king sized bed was a bit low to the ground and a little soft, but not bad. The bathroom was also large and very clean with separate shower and tub. The view from my windows was amazing looking out at the Remarkable Mountains. However, one word of caution, my room was right along Stanley Street...which did mean great views but some road noise since Stanley Street is a major road through Queenstown with lots of tour buses and trucks.

The hallways through the place are a bit of a maze and are a bit sterile, but who really cares. It would have been nice to have a recycling bin in the room...instead they wanted you to haul your recycling down the hall. This doesn't really encourage people to be green in a very green country like NZ.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend Scenic Suites. If I'm ever in Queenstown again, I would stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that views the mountains, but be careful about being too close to Stanley Street.

The rooms had spacious living, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom spaces. In easy walking distance of the centre of Queenstown, we left the car at the suites most days and walked to the starting point for our booked activities and food options within the town. We did breakfast in the restaurant 1 day, and that was average (some of the hot food optionsereas dry and luke warm). Would stay there again, as the price was reasoanble and the room was very clean/comfortable.

Everything was excellent about Scenic Suites. All rooms were extra-large with all top-class facilities. Perfect staff. Excellent views from the room and very affordable. It was our best accommodation during the tour. We'd love to spend a week there next time.

Very clean and good view from the balcony.Don't like ' corridors 'system and complicated issue w/keys -have to use 2 different keys one for your room and separate one for elevator and entrance door. The Wi-Fi should be free!

The hotel is a bit of a maze, but the room is worth finding. Good location for walking to the town center areas. We stayed two nights and would love to return. The suite was well proportioned living area, kitchen, laundry, large bedroom and bathroom. Can't think what else a traveler would want.

Room Tip: Go for the view, if that is important to you.

We just finished staying at our first Heartland Hotel in Haast and had second thoughts about staying at another. When we checked into the Queenstown Heartland, the reception was shared with the Scenic Hotel. For a $40 upgrade, we could switch from the Heartland room to a Scenic room. After seeing both rooms, we picked the Scenic. The room was larger, fresher and more modern. The bathroom had a large walk in shower and full bathtub with lots of room. The room had a walk out patio with captain chairs, slippers and bathrobes, and lots of closet space. The beds, however, were very soft but the pillows were great.

Breakfast was a disappointment. We decided to have the buffet, one hot and the other cold. The hot buffet food was in steamers but was not hot. The hot water dispenser was empty and it took staff 20 minutes to understand and refresh the water. The bread appeared old and hard. With only a few tables and two servers, it took along time for our plates to be cleared. For the price we paid, we expected more for our money.
