“The perfect thing for a rainy afternoon!”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

I took a trip to this ice rink in 2010 and really enjoyed it. I returned to NZ for the winter season this year and found it even better! They have just replaced all their old rental skates with a whole new set - goodbye to the usual old plastic kind you find in rinks across the world... HELLO to new, comfy fabric skates (they are like trainers with blades on, much more similar to good brand inline fitness skates) that mean you can skate for hours without getting sore feet!

Priced really reasonably compared to other activites, it's just the perfect thing to do if you are there to ski and the mountain is closed, for example. On a rainy day, the place will pack out, but the rink is a good size and never feels crowded. There is an ice-disco on two evenings if you like more of a party atmosphere. I will definitely be visiting again... and again, and again... :)

Note, finding it can be a bit tricky as it's an elusive little place, tucked away in the Queenstown Botanical Gardens, which is a lovely setting, and only a short walk from the Esplanade.

“Great inexpensive family fun”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

The whole family enjoyed our time here. Located in the gardens it is a great way to spend of couple of hours with the family. Great penguins and sleds for the kids to use, our 4yr old was zooming across the ice with her penguin. Great value for money in expensive Queenstown. Private lessons are really good value. It will bring out the Torvill and Dean in anyone. Would highly recommend
