I stayed only one night with my wife and 2 kids. It was really nice to stay in this hotel. The room was very comfortable and it has all that my family needed. The walking route around the hotel was amazing. Hope to stay again very soon.

Modern hotel which seemingly resides in administration after its owners had problems. Being managed by Hilton Group who own other residences on this complex.
We had a very attractive room overlooking the lake with an extremely comfortable bed, sitting and kitchen areas.
Breakfast was good with lots of variety with hot and cold buffets; fresh coffee from behind the bar area.
We only had one other meal in and that was in the pub - it was okay, but on the expensive side. The Grill looked very expensive and there is a noodle joint too.
The problem with this place is its distance from the centre of Queenstown....it's a full 11km and whilst the hotel offer a bookable courtesy bus, and there is a water taxi, it's all a bit inconvenient. We didn't find parking too bad nor expensive, but we did catch a taxi on wet night and were charged $50nz.
Not being truly part of the Hilton family there is also a $20 a day charge for the spa.
Handy for walks along the lake to Kelvin Heights though.

This is the Hilton. You expect everything to be pretty good and certainly the rooms were great but the service at times was found wanting and some advice on how to find your room would certainly have helped! Not a word was said that if you are on the 7th or 8th floor you can't get into any lift. It can only be the one of the right, then you press the bottom button marked 7. Get out on the 7th floor, walk down the corridor and there you find yet another lift (or stairs) to the 8th floor. While our room was serviced (some weren't) with beds made and towels replaced we had to ask for clean cups and glasses (done) and shower gel replenished (not done). The bar staff were lovely but we didn't eat at the hotel. It is a lovely spot with lovely views. Our bathroom was large, complete with separate bath and shower and beds compfy.

I loved staying at the Kawarau Hotel. It was a beautifully clean and comfortable hotel in a superb location. It was great being able to catch the water taxi to Queenstown. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I booked well in advance and was lucky enough to get a senior's rate!

We found the hotel very disappointing and would not stay again.

Arrival was marred by a lack of signage meaning you have no idea where to check in. The property has a Hilton Hotel, this one "managed by Hilton" a series of residences located in front of this one and what appears to be a bunch of timeshares on the way in. They commented they were aware of the issue but I guess after being open three years cant be bothered putting signs up.

The room was dark and dingy even with all lights on, I cant imagine how bleak it would be in winter. There was no milk on calling we were told you have to pay for it, no face clothes in the bathroom (were told they are not provided in the managed by hilton hotel). The shower area had black and red mould and mildew partially cleaned after we complained but in the process the cleaner left the window catch in pieces and it stayed that way for 4 days.

If the hotel has faclilities they are not apparent, no compendium or any other information provided. They were keen to upsell a breakfast at $30 for a continental, Coffee in the cafe was $6 the highest I have ever seen in NZ.

We got the impression that everything was pretty much on the cheap, seriously no milk, they said they would provide some but we brought some from the supermarket.

Its a hike out of town and you are captive once there unless you have transport. On the Friday night we returned to find the one way bridge closed with a boating accident. we asked the Police what alternative route was there to the hotel and the answer was there isn't one. So keep in mind if you are running to a schedule if anything happens on the bridge you will be stuck.

Its not a terrible place and if you get a good rate it might be worth considering but overall we would not go back, there are much nicer places to stay with a warmer welcome and better value. Oh yes and like many other silly hotels they will charge you a surcharge if you pay by credit card, so dont book direct as we did, book via an online service (wotif, expedia etc) and save yourself the fee. Why hotels would rather try and penalise customers booking direct and instead give away commission to web sites beats me

Room Tip: Stay at Queenstown park hotel instead for a great experience, see our review of a previous stay ther...

Location close to the airport and the shopping centre were ideal. Also handy to Jack's Point golf course. Great views and unlike Queenstown the hotel enjoys plenty of nice warm sun. Easy to catch water taxi or a cab to town. Nice walks around the Lake from the hotel.
